Stem rot solutions? Hand Sanitizer
I transplanted them to their final pots about 2 weeks ago. 4 days ago I was inspecting them and found some stem rot. It was caused because when transplanting I buried the lowest branch in tron. The branch/leafs was about half an inch deep in tron so it began to rot next to the stem. This rotting caused the stem to rot. The branches leafs was soggy and icky and leaving rotting matter on the stem. I cleaned it and let it dry. Now its never buried.
I think I found a good cure. I took hand sanitizer and rubbed it all over the stem. And let it air dry, and am making sure it stays dry. So far the color has been recovering and the diameter of the stem is no longer getting smaller. As you can see the rot has caused this plant to fall behind.
I am planning a scrog, so if the plant dies it don't matter to much cause either way the screen will be filled by the other five. The one with the stem rot is center bottom on the fourth and fifth photo.
I just wanted to share that hand sanitizer can stop stem rot quickly, within 4 days its already recovering. But the next week will really confirm my hypothesis.
Any body else have some info? I know hydrogen peroxide will do the trick, but it gets the stem wet when it should be dry 24/7.
