part1

What a fucking nightmare!

Waking up early this morning I decided that today was the day to plant out, it took me a while to get all the stuff together, my 13 plants, tools, chicken wire, water, and compost so I arrived at the site about 8am.

My intended site is just off a busy main road and across some railway tracks, you have to pull up on a layby, hop a fence and head a few hundred yards down a blocked off farmers track into some trees then up the verge, across the tracks and down the other side, not far from the tracks but hidden by trees

I got there and carried all my stuff down the track into the trees, I had to make three trips to bring everything. By this time I was pretty fucked, sweating like fuck and had a bad stitch, i'm pretty overweight and unfit so I was suffering a bit.

Still I'd got all my stuff out of the car and out of sight of the main road. All I had to do now was hump it all up the steep verge, over the tracks, down t'other side and get planting.

I grabbed the first load, a backpack containing wire cutters, pruning shears, cable ties, copper tape, a box of FBB and a drink. This went on my back, I also had a spade in one hand and a black bin bag containing 10 2 litre bottles, 3 of these were filled with water.

The plan was to get this stuff to the site, come back, grab the 70l bag of compost and the chicken wire, then finally the seedlings in a basket. 3 trips back and forth across the tracks.

I stuggled up the verge with the first load of stuff, slipping and sliding on the stones, by this time I was more worried about slipping and breaking an ankle or having a fucking heart attack than being stealthy.

Just as I got over the railway tracks, I heard a train horn go off, it must have just come out of the tunnel about 300yards away just as I finished crossing as I didn't hear an engine or feel the tracks vibrate.

I stumbled about 30 feet down the verge then stopped, turned around and crouched, thinking that the train would go whipping past and be gone, the trackside had been recently cut back so there was little cover, but I figured it would be rolling too quick to notice me.

To my absolute fucking horror, the train slowed right down and STOPPED right next to me!! :yinyang:

I should have just run for it, turned around and had it away down the verge but I froze, I fucking froze, I suppose I was hoping that the train was stopping for another reason, to change tracks or because someone had pulled the emergency stop or something. I just crouched there like a fucking idiot no more than ten metres from a stopped passenger train, hoping the driver wouldn't see me.

Sure enough, the window at the drivers end slid down and this train driver sticks his head out.
''What are you doing?'' he says

My mind went completely blank

''What?'' I say

''What are you doing on the tracks?''

''Err, i'm just taking a short cut home'' I stuttered.

Clearly this was a lie, the way I was heading led to nowhere but open fields, not to mention the spade and black bag that he could clearly see on the ground by my feet.

''What are you really doing?'' he says.

''I'm just taking a short cut home.'' I say again

''Well you need to get off the tracks NOW! You're not supposed to be here, you know that don't you?''

I should mention at this point that the train was full, all of the passengers having a good look at me.

''Y-yeah, sorry mate I'll go, i'm just taking a short cut home!'' I say again like a fuckin idiot, backing away now.

He just stares at me as I go, then shuts his window and starts off again. The train slowly pulls away out of sight.

Shit, shit, SHIT!
The panic kicked in and I started flapping. I had been severely exerting myself and the adrenaline running through me made me lose my breath, I was actually starting to think I was having a heart attack! I couldn't think straight, I had visions of the train driver calling the police and them being on their way right now. Seeing my car, searching the area and finding the basket of potted seedlings with my prints all over them, I dumped the stuff I had with me on the ground and ran back over the tracks, desperate to get to my car and get the the fuck out of the area.

I got back to where the bag of compost, the chicken wire and the seedlings were and grabbed my plants, still flapping, thinking the cops were coming any minute I stuck them under a log and ripped a few branches off of trees to cover them up a bit. I considered tearing them up and scattering them but even in my panic I just couldn't quite bring myself to.

I didn't care about leaving the compost and the chicken wire and the bottles, but I thought about the backpack and spade I'd dumped, copper wire, ferts, pruning shears, cutters, all with fingerprints on, fuck, I had to go back for it.
I went up that verge and over the tracks again like a fucking ninja, running on pure adrenaline. I grabbed the pack and spade, then headed for the car.

Just as I was getting close to the car I saw a police car heading down the main road through a gap in the trees, fuuuck!! I got ready to hide, but thankfully it carried on and didn't stop. I got in the car and got the fuck out of there.

I'm sitting here now, still paranoid as fuck that the plants will be found, I should have ripped them up as soon as I was compromised. I'm waiting for it to get dark so I can maybe sneak back and get them, after that, assuming I can get them back fuck nows, there's no way i'm planting anywhere near that place and that was my main site, and I don't want to bring em back home either.

A very scary episode indeed, starting to think i'm not cut out for this game.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, to many to reply to individually, plus I have more to tell, here's what happened.

I went back there and all was well, the seedlings were where I'd left them, so I gathered up my wire, compost, and plants, and got them back in the car. I just felt too paranoid to plant up there though. It probably would have been okay but i didn't want to push my luck. I had a bit of a back up plan.

I headed out to a second site that we'd looked at a few months ago. A medium sized stand of trees between two tiny villages along some back roads. I'd been put off by it before as it's about ten miles from where I live, the railway spot is only 3 miles away.

I was feeling hopeful on the way there, chuffed that I'd got my seedlings and all my kit back. The second site's biggest disadvantage was again having to park up in a layby again and head up a mud track into the woods. Pretty dodgy getting the stuff out of the car in broad daylight but it's a very quiet road and I figured I could pull it off if I was careful.

Unfortunately, I got there only to find that a family of pykies had taken up residence in the layby, complete with kids and snarling evil looking dogs, there was no way into the woods without them clocking me. I had no choice but to fuck off.

So now I was getting desperate, my missus had made it clear that she didn't want the plants in the house any more so I couldn't bring them home, I was driving around in broad daylight with 13 baby ganja plants in the footwell! :yinyang: I drove for miles all around the county, looking for somewhere, ANYWHERE that would be safe to plant up a few without being seen.

I stopped in this layby about 8 miles away, we used to go there regularly for spliffs when I was younger, it's about a quarter mile long and curves off the road in to a stand of trees and back out again, its completely obscured from the road and is usually littered with old fridges and furniture that people have flytipped. It's very easy to drive past it without noticing its there so not many people use it.

I drove slowly along checking it out. Looking to the left I realised that the woods went back a lot further than I thought. There was a makeshift barrier of cut branches blocking the main part of the woods, about 4 foot high, looking over the barrier I spotted a lovely little clearing catching loads of midday sun.

Fuck it! I'm doing it, I threw all my gear over the barrier, climbed over the barrier and got my spade in the ground, I knew anyone could pull into the layby but I was just gonna get 3 planted and chuck the rest, all I needed was 15-20 minutes.

I got the first one down then straight on to the next. Just then I hear a car, I ducked down behind the barrier, not worried too much yet...

FUCKING POLICE! FUCK FUCK FUCK!
Red handed this time growing equipment scattered everywhere, one plant freshly in the ground and another hole dug!

probably the only smart move I've made today was to park my car about thirty metres further up from where I was working. So the pigs headed straight for my car. This gave me just enough time to grab the basket of seedlings and run like I've never fucking run before. I splashed through a stream and leapt a big fallen tree like a fuckin gazelle, then jumped into some bracken and lay down on the floor.

I couldn't see anything but I heard doors opening and shutting, they were checking out my car, no doubt thinking it weird that an empty car was in a layby two miles from town.

I heard them drive off after a minute or two, so I slowly started sneaking back, I was certain that they were trying to catch me out and were waiting round the corner, so the plants got thrown in the stream.

I got to the fence and saw no sign of them so I grabbed what I could and made it back to my car, and got away. Only realising when I was nearly home that i'd left my fuckin spade with prints all over it, on the ground next to the one i had planted. Gonna have to go back for that tonight :smoke:

So i'm pretty fucking bummed out right now, I only got one in the ground and without any cage or slug tape, so that will probably get munched tonight.

I'm starting to think i'm jinxed, but if i'm honest with myself it's all down to making stupid decisions. OVER and OVER again!

So that's the beginning, and the end, of RC's guerrilla adventure for 2010. I'm well pissed off but at least i'm not in a cell I suppose.
