ScrOG for Outdoor Growing

I have been searching forums and threads to try to find some specific details on setting up a ScrOG or Screen Of Green for outdoor growing.

There is tons of information for setting up a ScrOG or SOG (Sea Of Green) for indoor growing. But I am unable to find any details on setting up a ScrOG for outdoor growing.

I want to know the dimensions of the ScrOG for outdoor growing. What are the materials used. How high off the plant should the ScrOG be mounted.

Again I am looking for Outdoor ScrOG information only. Any success stories when using a ScrOG outdoors.

Just dig your holes and plant the plants almost laying on the ground,at an angle kinda.. When the side bracnhes start to shoot up,just cover them with a peice of 2x4 chicken wire.with a tent stake holdin' it down. Your gonna want to form the wire in a semi circle. Go from there... Just keeping them under the screen. Nuttin' major need to accomplish what your wanting to do.

I waited too long to edit ....... I should add a very important point! At least it was a big deal to me when I was outdoors.. Add lime to the soil. It takes about 3 months for the soil to neutralize to a plantable point. If grown in a pine thicket or any type of conifer thicket, the soil is gonna be acidic. Thats where the lime come into play.. Your hole should be 2 ft deep and at least 3x3. And use rusty wire.. You'll find out why on your own.. I promise.....:thumbsup:

Thanks for the good information. Of course though this leads to some additional questions.

I grow on a hill so the angle should not be a problem. You say when the side branches start to shoot up but that is a little vague to me. I start with clones that have branches to start. They are usually about 1' to 2' tall when I put them in. Should I put the wire on immediately, or as soon as they have recovered from the transplant. I may be able to find some rusty chicken wire but I have some that is years old and is still not rusty. I may be able to find some I dug up from under my holes in the past to use but that is actually aviary wire with smaller openings than regular chicken wire and may not be useful. About how many feet in diameter should the wire end up being. At what point do you allow the tops to come through the wire.

My holes are at least the dimensions you mentioned so that should not be an issue. It is too late for lime this year but I will make sure to do that next winter.

Sorry if this is too many questions but the season is approaching and I want to be ready.

You can use rusty nails or any kind of rusted iron. Just throw it on the ground around the plant.

You hit the NAIL on the head! Your plants can use the Ironoxide. It's a small amount,but it helps.

If you're going to throw something iorn in there, try an make sure it's not sharp enough to do you any damage next time you work the soil.

I will keep these things in mind. I will be able to get to the property for the first time since last year this weekend. I will see what kind of shape my holes and roads are in. That is if it does not snow again this week. At least I know I will have plenty of water.
