Also it states on there that digital ballasts are brighter that magnetic. Anyone know if its true?

Man it is really hard to say, I suppose it really depends on what your looking to get out of it. Light hood + ballast, and the 2 types of light bulbs at that price is not a bad deal, and 400 watts would yield up to 6 decent plants in a small area.

If HPS and MH are the methods you wish to use for lighting, and have checked your local hydro or electrics shop, then go for it. If not, alternative methods(such as CFL lights can always be an option for more compact areas). Using this light would be for a larger space around 3x5' at least.

Thanks ;) It would be going into a 20X36X60 tent. I've done the CFL thing twice. First with bag seed, 2nd with Big Bang. The BB turned out OK, but the yield sucked and now I'm out :(

Anyway for that price, I think it's worth it. I was more worried about the quality but ya get what you pay for I guess.

I still haven't found any evidence that digital has more light output than magnetic.

Yeh I figured as much. That's what I was wondering. Oh well, its still better than CFLs.

Yeah idk about this one. I was always told to stick with name brands and brands that have proven themselves. I got my electronic balast from a hydro store in my town and the reason i got it because 1. it was a good price around 350 for two lights two ballasts and two bulbs and 2. because they gave a 5 year warranty on it. in 5 years it will more than pay for itself. just make sure you keep the receipt.

So I got it, the MH bulb was broken inside the glass, but they replaced it. So far so good :thumbsup:

Is it all glass and metal made? (the tube hood)
