I have always been amazed at how many people still ask this question. Just where is it that they get this idea? I have never ever seen blacklights recommended so I am pretty sure it does not come from anyone anywhere suggesting them as a grow light.
Anyway, I'll jump in by saying that other than HID lights I am a firm believer in T5HO lighting. They have worked great for me.

I'm pretty sure they heard/read somewhere something regarding the UVB lights (you know, those serpent ones) used in flowering gives more resin debate and thought they were talking about blacklights lol. ;)Quote:

Well true that a Blacklight can produce UVB along with near UV visible and UVA (wikipedia), I highly doubt this light is the one you want to use. It sounds like most of your light will go to waste. I use UVB lights from a reptile store as supplemental which would be a much better choice.
If you happen to have a ballast with florescent type blacklight or something, then check the size (like T5 or T12 etc...) and replace the bulb with a normal 6500k white which can grow.
I hope it helps.
