Make sure your reservoir is completely light proof. Most of the storage containers are not light proof.
Hold your tub up to a light and look from the inside.
Make sure there is no visible traces of light when doing this.
This is the one bit of advice I wish I knew when I was first starting out. :hippy:
No doubt Tiki the root zone must be 100% light proof but IMHO the most important thing to know about DWC is you always want to hear that good ole bubble popping noise to let you know that they are getting air.
Black plastic buckets and lids are the answer to the light problem. Or a good can of spray paint. Use rather large air pumps. Use Dynagrow 7-9-5 fert, one teaspoon per gallon of water. Get a pH/ppm meter and start plants with a ppm at around 700 and raise it as the plant grows to about 1200 or so. Best of luck.
The more bubbles the better, ideally you want the entire water surface area to be broken with air bubbles. Also beware of warm water temps.
WB Pete :)
also look into wetting agents for better root absorbtion.Quote:

Look into Krusty Buckets, you can get INSANE yields from those setups.
good way to grow trees i have a huge purple kush and white widow in 5 gal buckets great way to go.
get a PH meter first and then a PPM meter. these are the two things peeps think they can get by without.
