Rooting clones in dirt questions...
So I was wondering what people are having success with rooting clones? I'm making my 1st group of clones in dirt and would greatly appreciate some feedback on do's and donts. Mainly I was wondering if I actually need a root starter or can I get by without it? If it is necessary wat is the brand to go with? Thanks!!!

Well I would not use soil.
I would use either rockwool cubes, pucks, or Rapid Rooters for the medium and I use Dip-N-Grow for 5 seconds per cutting, then put in the rooters.
Humidity at 99% in a dome if possible. Keep at 70-80 degrees.

Out of curiousity WW, if you see this, why is it that you don't advocate using soil for starting clones??

I don't advocate soil as soil can contain bacteria and kill or harm the tender clone. I would use periolite it's sterile. I would spit in it. dip in super thrive then into Clonex and into a rockwool cube and place into periolite and water with highly oxygenated water keeping rockwool cube moist and warm. If using a bucket go to walmart bakery and get an eight inch cake and use the clear top for a humidity dome. I would only give then 14 -16 hours of light and work up from there.

Because there can be bugs and other issues like mold, fungus, weeds, stray seeds, etc, the pucks, cubes and rooters start out sterile. I note some plants root faster in the Rapid Rooters than they do with the rockwool or visaversa, depends on the phenotype.
I worked very hard over a 2 year period to rid myself of gnats, mites, and any other bug issue. Now I only use sterilized out of the bag stuff.
