'70s

I've come to the conclusion that the best years of my life are looking like they occurred during the 1970s. Marijuana was beginning to be accepted, the Schaffer Report came out saying exactly what is being said today. Gas was cheap. Yeah five dollars an hour was almost top pay at a lot of places, but it bought more for the buck. I ain't got much, but what I have is mine. I had more during the 70s and threw it all away over bs. Now, I wonder everyday what is or isn't right around the corner. My attitude is shot...but I got weed. :D

I'm grateful that I Experienced the 70's at the age I was then, and living in Florida. A lot of fond memories indeed.
But I remember some good times in the 60's bouncing around Europe when I was younger, and some hellacious times in the 80's in New York. Denver Colorado in the 90's was a blast!
Except for some BS in the first 3 years of this century, I'm still having fun.
But yeah, your right about the Seventies. The Beach, the babes, Arena Concerts lasting for days, You could park and party anyfreakin where ya wanted to practically.
I remember getting pulled over once in Daytona for speeding, and when the Statey asked for my licence, I put my beer on the top of the car so I could get my wallet out! Cant do that nowadays! (I only got a warning By the way.)
I made a lot of friends then, and sadly, lost a few. Some just recently. But the 70's was a time like no other. More freedom than you have today.
Yeah some of the young bucks kinda roll their eyes about that time when you talk about it, but it is only because they weren't there to experience it. Today you have a lot more technology that younger people are proud of which is good...
But the seventies cannot really be explained, it has to have been experienced, and you needed to be in a certain age group to fully appreciate it. ..just my 2¢. :thumbsup:

It makes me feel strange to hear you older guys talk about how awesome life used to be. I don't know whether to be stoked that you guys had those experiences or jealous that I will never experience it.

Then I think that we are living in the future, and the next fifty years are going to be a ride I'm sure.. :jointsmile:

And I would like to say thanks for the music. And the culture. And the sense that whatever you're doing to help fix the world is right.

the late 70's was a really wild time for me so wild i have few memories as i was always totally blitzed:D

The 70s was my decade. Discovered cannabis in '71, graduated high school in '76, got married in '77, joined the AF in '78.

It was a decade of fantastic music, free love, and discovery.

That said, you can't live in the past. That boy I was grew into the man I am now and I've changed as the world changed. My mind still feels 18 . . . my body, not so much.

It's all part of the cycle of life. As I've aged, I've lost loved ones. My children have all grown and now I have grandchildren. Just like the Utes believed, I believe life is a big circle filled with smaller circles.

My life's credo has always been to have fun and find the good in life to enjoy while being good to others and trying not to harm others unintentionally. That works in any decade.

Dont fret, I'm sure that if the world keeps on going like it has, then you will look back at this time in your life and do some reminiscing about your favorite decade with others who experienced the same things at the same time.
The 70's was fun no doubt about it, but I remember my Dad used to reminisce about the 50's with his buddies.
One thing I gotta say is; there was some parts of the seventies I dont miss, like walking into green and orange living rooms and kitchens, and Disco! I do miss the $1.69 Budweiser six-packs though......:D

I miss the little 'DING-DING' sound when you pull up to a gas station pump...:stoned:

And having attendants gas your car, check your fluid levels, air your tires, and clean your windows. All with change back from a ten.

I can relate there Gypski...the 70's are my favorite decade lookin back now. My family moved from No. VA to Las Vegas, NV in 1970...I was a freshman in HS...When we moved back 3 years later, I had gone from an innocent little boy to a young man who had already done everything...

I got a MC license when I was 14, and freaked out when Gas hit 55 cents a gal! I worked at a Baskin Robbins for $1.45 an hour (min wage at the time), and thought I was "makin money"....LMAO! I did all the showgirls daughters I could...yep, they were built just like their moms! I was havin so much fun in Vegas, I got very POd at Dad for moving us back, went to half my senior year in Va, turned 18, packed a bag and hitchhiked 2800 miles to get back, but nobody would be my guardian cuz I was a little wild and you had to be 21 in Vegas to do anything...LOL!

I finally did graduate in '74...I drove boats in the gulf in TX to p/u bales of weed and other stuff, smuggled the borders of Mex. and Can....Flew to Miami 30 times and never left the airport, just turned around and flew back first class, cuttin up qb's of blow in the airplane bathroom...Dam I had fun. I remember sitting on a side street smokin a doob and a cop walked right up to the car and asked us what we were doing...I hit the doob, blew it in his face and said "finishin a joint"...and he just laughed! Asked us if we had anymore, which we didn't, and then we let him search the car to prove it after a lot of joking around and he just looked around in the glovebox and says to get outta here and let us go. We got stopped with beer all the time underaged and the cops just made ya pour it out and let you go...and they wonder why we call them the glory days? LOL! I remember hiding two six packs and a bong up my "Big Bell" Levis pants legs once getting pulled over and not caught! I roamed all over the country in the 70's and have old friends I still keep in touch with and most of them still party.

The best part was NO AIDS yet and the free love all the chicky babes liked to give out...one of my favorite lines is Willie Nelson in a David Chappelle movie "Half Baked" sayin...."You know how much condoms cost back then? Me neither....we never used 'em!" I was trippin my ass off one 4th of July on the beach in Surfside TX...went into a very casual beach bar (No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem) to get a beer and met some chick who took me out in the gulf and screwed me in the water trippin with the fireworks going off...she never even said her name, and I never saw her again, but I won't forget her! Ah, good times!

Concert tickets were like $6 for Zep, Black Sabbath, Clapton, The Stones, The Dead, Deep Purple, Little Feat....man I saw some AWESOME live acts and guitar players who are now dead back then! I remember going to see Led Zep and ate two qualudes and drank some Jack and only remember them playing "Moby Dick" (John Bonham was very drunk and stood up on his drum set at the end and fell over backwards stopping the show for a few mins) and "Stairway to Heaven"...the rest is a blur. "I've done a bit of smugglin, and I've run my share of grass...I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast"...Jimmy Buffet line that describes my 70's to a tee.

Now I just like a little AK47 buzz and I'm happy to sit back and remember the good times of the 70's....I've still had fun in the 80's, 90's and still am, so it's all good, just different, higher tech and more expensive!

Here's something to think about...My great grandmother, who I knew well, moved to Dallas as a small girl in a horse drawn covered wagon and she lived to see men walk on the moon several times. What do you think we will see? I can remember when all TV shows were black and white and our first COLOR TV! WOW! Now we have satellite signal color HD 3D TV's! LOL!
