Make sure if the old wire have enough resistant for 400 watt. And of course ground connection.

I dont know if im picturing this right but they sell an adaptor that will screw in to a light socket that you can plug things into but they may be only 2 prong plugs. Sounds like a big time fire hazard unless you are an electricin. How bad is 1 wire comeing out? Keep in mind when it looks like you have the sun in your closet that can look a little more strange than a wire.

LOL! Ya got that right Blunter...I have a 400w with both a MH and an hps bulb...both very bright and run pretty hot too....sure grows nice stuff tho...:smokin: The hps makes my adjacent rooms look like a setting sun is in my house all day long...it's gonna have to be a pretty big closet to absorb all the heat from a 400 without some cooling, so I'd worry more about cooling the room than re-wiring it. Duct work is harder to hide than wire, and fans make noise and also require some electricity to run... A simple bulb socket to receptacle adapter is all you need to power your light if you have an existing fixture tho...

the closet is behind the air handler there is a panel to access it inside my closet, if the heat or air or just the fan from the unit is on it pulls air very fast, and i can get 8 inches from top of plants with 400w hps without burning.my only question is how would i find out how much the ""FAN" function on the ac is to operate? it works almost too good could probobly lower 2 more inches sounds crazy but true!!

If you do that and use it for exhaust you will smell up your house. That's the return air. It blows back across the coil and into your supply duct. It's supposed to pull like that. It would work,though.. But stay away from the idea..

Curious why the need for stealth in your own home, but there is a CanCom rule covering this practice...
Messageboard Rules
"-Growing in the home of someone who is not aware of your growing activities. This includes parents or housemates who are on your lease. Dormitory growing is also covered under this rule."
Main reasoning behoind this rule, is that other's in your home have the right to know what potential felonies are being comitted in the home. Would be a bummer to have the parents or roommates home taken-away for your drug offenses. (if applicable, but this site does assume you are legal) Same with room mates.
I know I'd likely be fairly vindictive were I to lose my home or freedom, for your indiscretions. For that matter, I'd be REALLY pissed if you were to jury-rig a set-up that caught my home on fire.

i dont need to policed on a forum over the internet, i own my own home and would like some stealth, if i had anything in the closet that needed power i wouldnt run an extension cord as it looks tacky.i have set it up from the wires that originally where hooked up to a light, no jury rigging!!it isnt your job to police the forums get over yourself!!

Something tells me you wont be getting much more help around here

If there's one thing I've noticed about this particular site (and sites like this), is the SOLIDARITY. Everyone is here to help and they are, for the most part, very nice. If you don't read the rules and obide by them, you have only yourself to blame.
