No one else would have picked up Jeter. At this point the Yankees were thinking more about ticket sales and less about the actual talent. Yes, he's great, but he is really on the ass end of his career now. He's getting up there in baseball years, and doesn't have the skill to back up the paycheck anymore.
With as much as he wanted, there is not a single team out there that would have picked him up.
