Where does all that co-op sales money go?
So can non-profit dispensaries take money from their sales to cover the overhead costs of running a storefront location (e.g. employeeâ??s wages, building rent, electricity, growing costs?) What if a dispensary makes up that money and then some extra? Since theyâ??re non-profit they canâ??t pocket the extra cash, so what happens to that extra money earned after all bills and expenses are paid to keep the storefront running?

I'm guessing that the top management is paid a lot, think six-figures in some cases. If one pays one's self a mountain of cash then there will be no profit to worry about. I'm just guessing....

I've always been partial to the idea of covering your costs and paying your employees well, but not outrageously so. Then any left-over cash could either be split and given to all members or go right back into the dispensary to make it even better.

The co-op that I am active in does several things, not necessarily in this order:
* We reduce the price of medicine to our members.
* We give money to qualified organizations with LOCAL ties (Salvation Army, Food Pantry, Battered Womens Shelter, etc.)
* We increase what we pay out to our growers.
* We take on more people who have LEGITIMATE need for free medicine (usually thru referral from doctor or hospice).

This is the way it is supposed to be, IMO. Good work!

come on where do you think its going? ofc they pocket the cash. They use the skimming scam, whihc is when u skim n skim a lil over time you build up a revenue that is un marked un tracesable. They simply say they sold more or less of what they had. not to mention the dispeseries are probaly selling more than they are reporting.

In any non profit there is no limit as to how high salaries can be. You just can't have much cash on hand. Thats wh6y you see a lot of the ceo's of non profits like the red cross american cancer society and a lot of others making big bucks. All the money donated goes to salaries.
