Remember when Bush II was President and how the right wingers would cry bloody murder if anyone questioned the President's policies, calling event the mildest critics unpatriotic, traitorous, treasonous, etc.? Where are they now? We are at war. Where is all the rallying around the flag?

Clearly they are shitting themselves that she is going to share their podium in the primaries. She really brings out the base(st) elements... I really hope she runs. Oh please please please...

i think that the tighty righties are going to let her continue to stir up the hornets nest and when it suits their purpose, they are going to throw her under the bus big time before the primaries. And you are right Bigs when you refer to the Bush years. The neocons screamed about being unpatriotic to anyone who criticized Bush. The thing is, we all criticized Bush for his stupidity, his rashness, his arrogance, and his pandering to his cronies. I don't recall anyone questioning his Americanism, or his religion, or whether he was born in the US or whether he was hitler or a muslim terrorist or a kenyan witchdoctor. These radical righties would be executed as traitors if this was WWI or WWII. Those that got us into this war are the first ones who want us to forget that we are still fighting it. The biggest threat to this country is ignorance pure and simple, and Sarah is the drum majorette of that tea party parade. That was a good read. Thanks for posting. The article sums up so nicely the BS we see posted by republican/tea party types on the CanCom politics board. Mainly, the absence of intellectual honesty and ability; a win at all costs, scorched earth approach to politics that puts party before nation, and corporate moneyed interests before the middle class.

I am doubtful that any of our righty friends will offer any meaningful analysis as to where/how this article misses the point. But let's give them the opportunity to offer up some observations. Please Islandboy, Rusty, et al, tell us why the underlying premise of this article is wrong? Where do you take exception?

If nothing else, this article demonstrates what is so wrong with the right wingnuts in this country. In effort to appeal to their base, the right is in a downward spiral to the bottom, dismissing hard analysis as the trips and traps of the "educated elite," and in favor of hockey mom's leading the nation.

It's one thing to question what they are doing. It's quite another to say our president is hitler or doesn't love this country. And it's not a fine line either. Criticism is one thing, but hate speech is destructive to our democracy and to the ignorant sheep who hear it and repeat it as if it were not only the truth, but fact. When the ignorant sheep lose their unemployment benefits, their homes, their pensions, their social security, and their medicare, they can look in the mirror and blame themselves for putting republicans back in power.

Oh yes. Absolutely right. A very wise teacher once told me to question everything - a lesson that has taken me far. But that is different than employing a strategy of undermining/opposing everything in an effort to win at all costs. The latter is simply rooting for America to fail for your own political gain. I know you can see the difference.
