Need Help. Pic included

hi im a first time grower. i started November and my plants are no bigger than 5 inches. i didn't provide any special soil or any fertilizer. will they still grow with average soil and no fertilizer? theyre gettin as much light as possible, watered when soil is dry. any tips? thanks.

Where are you growing? (room, closet) What kind of light is it getting? "As much as possible" doesnt really explain much. Soil looks heavy, is it from outdoors or store bought? Ventilation?, Average temps?

Need more specifics.....
