Nutrient Lock ?

Hi guys, having a problem with my grow....:( always involves fucking nutrients aswell !! hate them, may go organic but anyway...last 3.5 weeks my girls havent been growing much at all...so i thought it was my temps which were around 18.C but i sorted that out and now they run at about 21.3.C with my new heater...so a gave them a week an half since then and still they hadnt grown so i thought ah they dont have enough nutes so started giving them full strength feed...still nothing has really happened till today...only one plant has grown through it as it did make me think..'whys this one growing and all the other not' so obviously it has a higher tolerance to the ph or amount of nutes...so do my girls that have stopped growing have nute lock ? some have a couple of yellowing leaves which i believe to be a sign ? they are coming up to week 6 and they are way too small, may have to set them back a week or so lets say week 5 so they can catch up....I did flush them after my late brainwave but how do you all think things will pan out ? 4 weeks enough time to plump up a bit ?

I have been using Canna nutes - Bloom, PK & cannazym at 3/4 strength to 3 litres of tap water...plants are under 500 watts of cfls....

Looking dark green there. When do you cut-back on nitrogen? It's getting pretty deep into flowering, so you might want to think about restricting the nitrogen, or flushing it out of the pot.
Doesn't look like major ph issue, but I see a few leaves that make me mention it.

Likely best to fill-out the troubleshooting form.

From seeds or clones? All the same strain? Have you grown this strain without incident before...?
If clones, how long had they been rooted before switching to 12/12, and how tall were they when you switched?

Hey Char, check out your roots, because when the soil gets cold the roots do too and it will stop your growth right now. It happen to me so i put a something under the pots and the growth started back in a few days. I also have put them in a box to try and keep the soil warm. Hell i wrapped my seeds in my electric blanket till they popped and now in a box with a light on 24/0 to keep the soil warm enough till i get my lights up.

Hi Rusty, nice to see your still around ! They never had nitrogen because i flowered after 2 weeks of veg, only bloom feed at week 5 or week 3 of flower. I think it was nute lock..i feed them and all the run off goes into the tray which they sit in, they then drink it all up by the next day but i rekon some evaporates and leaves salts and buildup in the tray so when they are next fed the strength gets of the nutes gets even stronger. Didnt explain that too well but basically they drink their run off ! They are from seed, the worst being the papaya from nirvana which everyone says is shit so no suprise there to be honest. Never grown the strain before and they rooted for 2 - 2.5 weeks before flower, the roots were well developed because i repotted them and they were about 3 inches when i started flower.

Hi mate, nice to see you ....well virtually. i chose soil again, i don't have time for coco for example there was a period i couldnt see my girls for 3 days and if i had coco they would be bone dry ! i did mix my soil with pertile this time round though ! Im currently growing, papaya, bubble cheese, lsd, strawberry haze, cream caramel... a ncie selection although the only one with any nice amount of bud is the cream caramel ! which ill post a pic of at the bottom of post. Cheers for your input mate

The cold was a problem but that was all solved with the heater about 2 weeks ago...maybe they are still suffering ? The pots are in trays on a camping mat so thats as warm as there guna get. Either way my problem lys with nutes or the temps. Cheers for checking in and reply to my email !!! :rastasmoke:

SCLR-Soil run off was 7.5 according to the little meter with the arm that swings about...v inaccurate but gives a vague idea
E-Tap water

E-Age of plant week 8
E-Type of fertilizer canna boost, cannazym and pk

E-Lighting source and distance from plant - 250 X 2 cfl red and about 1 inch from tops
E-Air temperature (both day and night if you are running a dark period) - highs of 23.2.o.c and lows of 17.3...average temp of 20.3.o.c

E-Air % Relative humidity - not humid at all
E-Lighting schedule - 12/12
E-Type of ventilation your room has - loft so fresh air comes in through cracks and stuff
TR-Did you pre-soak your media in pH corrected solution? no

Hope this helps a bit with the girls diagnosis...they are looking better since the flush..cream caramels leaves still going brown so not sure about her but she is finishing in 3 weeks and is packing on weight...so maybe shes just finishing ?

Bubble cheese has purple leaves ? lower buds arent developig well because of the top canopy blocking light

Lsd is tall and known for shitty yield and genetics

Strawberry haze is known to be a bit gangly and low yielding so expected

Papaya is bullshit from nirvana...should have lisented to people on this forum about them !!!

Cream caramel smells earthy and will be my best yielder although in a brown state....

I only have to water daily because I use small pots. Weezard grows in coco with much larger pots and he waters every 3 days (as far as I remember).

My mate tried bubble cheese for the 1st time on his last grow. The buds were really small and he got less than half of what his plants normally produce. Maybe you should try a higher yielding, slightly less potent strain next time?

Talking of pics, I know you were thinking of going the bonsai route and I did say that I would post up the pic of my bonsai experiment. This was the smallest of the 2 plants...

I put them into flower the day I got the cuttings as they were about 7-10 days into veg (guestimate) they had about 5 or 6 nodes. Got 24g's off the smaller one and 52g's off the bigger one (dried weight).

This was the last bit of bud from the smaller plant once it was cured.

A friend of mine was growing in a shed just before last winter, his plants got cold and they took weeks to recover.

Another thought.... How cold is the water you are adding? I keep my water at room temperature for 24 hours before I use it, so it doesn't chill the roots when I feed.

Ye i think i chose sum pretty shitty strains to be honest. I get bowled over my the descriptions and the names which get me all excited and so i have to grow them and i never research the strains. Oh well, learnt my lesson now ! And yes high yielding is the idea for the next grow! sticking with barneys seeds, definately didnt fail me with the vanilla kush.

Mate that bonsai is nuts. I still dont get how you yield so much bud of your girls using cfls.. i got an oz of my vanilla kush which was an lst, vegged for 5 weeks or something and you can do that with a bonsai plant ! madness..what strain was it ? good smoke ? anything on the go at the moment ? my email is [email protected] if you ever wana chat. Havent got yahoo anymore, the messenger programme was too annoying on my comp, always opened on start up.

Ye the cold definately effects them, had that problem with my first grow...cold hit em and they didnt grow at all till harvest. I feed them straight from the tap but i do try to warm it up a bit, not warm water but like you said room temp so luke warmish. When i flushed though the water was pretty cold but the heater does keep the soil warm as before i would feel the soil and they would feel freezing cold and now they feel normal.

I still partly blame nirvana seeds because even in the cold the bud size is appauling and its hillarious, one plant is half the size of another and they are the same strain, grown under the same lights, same nutes everything yet one is double the height. Cant say the most consistent plant!

High mate, the roots may have got cold but they are in good shape, i checked them out and they look pretty normal. I think they would find it hard to get rootbound considering their size. I might top them up with a bit of soil though so they feel like they got a bit of extra space...cheers
