LED Grow Box System | Complete Plant Grow Kit
I ordered this and i've been reading a lot about LED's and about their flowering capabilities. I was wondering if I should place additional CFL or HPS lighting in this box for flowering. However, if i were to get an HPS, how would i go about ventilation in this box? Would i even need it?
you need some ventilation...even with LED...more with HPS
I'd be very wary of a unit claiming NO HEAT when thermodynamics most clearly states otherwise.

I want an LED too. I plan to supplement with CFL until I can afford the upgrade(Light AND ventilation).
Iâ??ve grown with HPS and LED side by sideâ?¦.the plants will grow towards the stronger light source, so not the best solution. If separated enough theyâ??ll mature at different rates.
More likely LED and CFL. If you want the benefit of both itâ??ll be a bit of a balancing act. In my mind easily do-able.
Yupâ?¦.Ventilation is a must. Where there is lightâ?¦.there will be heat, and the plants will need fresh air.

The grow box he linked to has ventilation.
There is a 80mm fan at the bottom, on the back, blowing in and another 80mm fan at the top, on the back again, blowing out.
You can always tell the direction of PC fans by looking for the wires going into the actual motor itself, the side the wires are on is the direction the air moves towards.
EDIT: oh ya! the fan at the bottom also is a circ fan too :D
If you check back on my PC grow, a single 50w panel with an 80mm outtake and 120mm intake couldn't keep the temps down below 85F.Quote:

Well, I know its different lights and different sq/f'age than a PC grow but I got roughly 24 sq/f of space and 4 4' fluoro and 4 40w CFLs, Two 80mm exhaust fans keep the temps between 71-85.
thanks guys. Im really considering adding a couple cfls in this box, anyone got any ideas for the setup i should use?
