5'6"x6x2 800w to small???
Hey guys so im about to start my setup.... and the only closet i have is 6 foot wide about 5 8" high and a little over 2 foot deep.
I already have an 800 hps...
My seeds are bubba so i figure the plants will be on the small side
I also am about to buy a 5 foot lightrail (alrdy have an intellidrive motor)
What do you guys think?
The light does have the big 9" exhaust holes to get rid of some heat.
Any help is greatly appreciated Also i you have any recomendations for pots that will save room let me know..
I was thinking maybe one large "trowl" sorta thing...
But Im worried all the roots in one pot will fight for room,

Naw it's not deadr....we just b hi-rrrr! LOL I would use separate pots, the 800 is certainly not too small and is really gonna heat up that closet, so you'll need a pretty good sized fan or two and a fresh air and exhaust port to get rid of the heat...I have a 400w hps in a 4'wx5'dx7'h and heat is an issue, even in winter... my 2 cents...

What TANKJR said - I have a 600W in a 4X4X8 tent, 170cfm fan / filter, passive intake and it seems to do pretty good, temps run 10-15F (winter/summer) over ambient. good luck!

Well as i re-read my post i guess i wasnt completely clear i was asking if my closet was to small not light.
And im not sure how i confused it but the light was a gift from a friend.. and turns out it is a 1000w.. so my heat issues will deff.. well be an issue lol.
What do u guys think about exhausting the heat into my attic?

Hmm, ok, a 1K, huh? Yes, there's gonna be a lot of heat. BTW, no the closet is certainly not too small although it may turn out to be kinda small for that big a light, but not for plants. I would guess the attic would be best, if you can get away with some fairly big holes through the ceiling of the closet...hot air rises, so that's the way it's going to want to go anyway. Can you get enough intake air? Are you going to use the attic air for intake, and if so is it going to be a winter thing? I don't think you would get cool enough air from the attic in the summer, but that depends on where you live. I wondered about that light size when you said it had 9" ducts on it....LOL...The problem is gonna be to get the temps, even with fans, down to reasonable growing temps, that small a closet may be like a little wind tunnel, but then weak stalks and stems won't be a problem, will they? One things for sure, the babies won't lack for light! There's one sure way to see if it can be done, and that's to do it....or as Yoda said..."No try, only do!"

Unfortunately I cant put holes in the ceiling of my closet because my loft or bed is right above my closet. i can put holes at the top on the sides of the closet. I will have to do some sort of light trap... or maybe those ac vents that are slanted...
I live in cali so summer attic air will be crap...
But for now I might be ok..
I'll have to get a thermometer thats for sure... should the therm be placed towards the bottom of the closet? maybe the middle?
My buddy will be giving me a 150?cfm fan Not sure on 150 but by the size of it i think it should be big... He said it was one that looks like a big turbine..
So its safe to say I will need at least one more fan of this caliber. then maybe a few small wall fans to blow air up towards my exit holes and at the plants them selves maybe?

Any ideas on lighting for the seedlings..
If I had to i can buy somthing cheap just to get some roots goingbefore they jump into the 1000w..
Or maybe put some type of cover so they are only receiving so much light from my 1k...
Oh btw they are 8" ducts... I really should hav taken one more look at the light before making this thread... well I cant complain since my buddy gave it and a 3.5 intellidrive motor for my light rail.
