The processing of cannabis starts with cutting down the plants and removing the largest leaves by hand.
The branches are then hand fed through a trimming machine - a rotating blade with a mesh above it and a bowl below, over which the trimmer rotates the marijuana.
It's then that the hard work begins as trimmers use small handheld garden shears (the local hardware store sells these by the pallet) to cut the small leaves from around the flowering buds.
Finally the buds are ready to be placed on silk screens in an air cooled room where they will sit until dry, being frequently rotated by hand to ensure an even drying process and no mould.
Once dry the buds will be one fifth of their original weight and ready for transport to California's medical marijuana dispensaries.
