Nutrient choices, strength and ppm
I am new to growing, but with cannabis grow bible and this website, I have the fundamental tools to get it right from the beginning, sort of, lol. I feel as if I'm recieving an Ivy league caliber of education when it comes to growing, but just have zero ezperience lol.
Anyway, one thing that has me confused is the variety and availabilty of so many different nutrients. There are so many companies in competition for our hard earned cash, it's ridiculous for a rookie like myself to choose.. Especially since I want to have the stickyest, smellyest, and strongest shit possible! As of now I am working with GH flora series, and I also have the technaflora recipe for success starter kit.
I know I have enough to get a good grow, what perplexes me is all these other additives and boosters that these companies are trying to sell me; I figure they think I'm an easy sell, being a stoner and all, lol. Products like AN big bud, and Bud candy, tempt me to make an impulse buy. Let me get to the topic at hand.
My question to all the experts and experienced growers is, are all ppm the same? What I mean is, for example is 1500 ppm from lets say, GH; is it the same as 1500ppm from a different company, like AN? can 1500ppm of certain nutrients have a different effect on a plant then 1500 from a competing company? Or is the amount of ppm have the same effect on the plant regardless of the manufacturer of the nutrients. Can some nutrients from certain companies burn a plant while others aty the same level may not??
Sorry for the slightly long read, I hope to get some good info from you guys:)

a tsp of mirical grow 15-30-15 in a gal of water will give a diffrent ppm than a tsp of Jacks 15-30-15 because thay use diffirent chems for n-p-k. skip the snake oil adds and just grow good DNA WITH BASIC NUTES.after 3 or 4 growschange/add one thing and see what happens .I LIKE GENRAL hydros maxibloom with promix hp for flowering

Hey slayer, I understand that those two products may give different ppm readings using the same amount... What I want to know, if you were to use equal ppm of both those products (regardless of the quantity that it takes to reach the same value), would the plant react the same?

i am going to suggest that you use cutting edge solutions for your nutes. the reason i am suggesting them is many. first thing is that their customer service is 2nd to none. email today and get an answer today.
but the main reason i like ces is they only only make 1 3part solution of nutes with 3 optional add-ons. that are the icing on the cake so to speak. they are fairly priced compared to many other nutes. and i feel when i campany spends their time perfecting justa simple 3 part nute and that is it then they have it perfect no need for so many bloom busters, look at advanced nutes. they make so many you get lost in the catologe. not with cutting edge. it bloom grow micro. they have a nute calculator on their website that makes thier nutes fool proof for the newbie to the expert. just put in the gallons of water it fills in the blanks of ml you need of each. and their feed chart is very simple straight forward my 10 year old could handle a grow. there is no need to look for and search all those other crazy brands with more add-ons than any of us know what to do with. how many do they need to make if one would work.
if you go on ebay they have a start up package for just 160 bucks for the complete line of products in gallons. you get everything you need shipped to your do for a few grows for just 160
another reason ces is so awsome to use is they have a ph buffer that will bring your ph to 6.5 when mixed with any tap water or ro system so it takes all that ph worrying out of the way and you can just enjoy growing

Sounds good!! That's whats fishy about some companies, they have way to many different booster and additives... As far CES is concerned, I would be curious to know what others have to say about it.... I'm going to look it up though, thanks leftrear!!:weedpoke:

i know you are going to find many different answers of what nutes work best for each grower. i have 3 friends that grow and when we first met we had 4 different ways of growing. and we would get 4 different results when we shared seeds and clones. i am not tooting my own horn but they soon switched over to ces for the simple fact of seeing my results using a 5 bucket diy system that i was able to build for just 71 bucks. it is a very simple to use dwc includes very thing you need from a drip ring to the air pump. one thing we have to remember with some diy's are that the uv plastics wll break down over a few years but it is a good start up point to make sure your successful at and want to continue in this hobby with out the huge start up cost.and as you learn these system of buckets can be modfiied to be even better but it is the basics to get you growing.
but i do ask for you to check out ces at cuttingedgesolutions.org browse their site check out the feed chart and nute calculator and see how easy they are to use. and like i said when one company makes just one set of nutes they must be doing something right. and i feel along with other growers i know that use ces that it is a tweked version of the flora series by gh.

That may be the case now; but you know what happens once they start gaining popularity (and getting richer) all of a sudden they have a batch of different products in which they spend a ton of money developing, as they say....
As far is this grow is concerned, this is my first, I'm using hydrofarm's emily's garden, In which i have two healthy Ice plants, a widow skunk and one bigbud; I also have two auto-widows going in a seperate home made dwc tote. I realize that the emily's garden may not be big enough for the results I would like, so once I finish vegging, I'm going to tranfer them to a 20 gallon tote, so the roots have room.
The nutes I have on hand is technaflora's recipe for success kit; and the Gh flora series included in the emily's garden system... so far so good, haven't had any problems yet, I'm almost 3 weeks in...
