Would the following mix be a good soil recipe to use here in colorado? I've only grown hydro...
1 bale ProMix BX (or 3 bags quality potting soil)
1 30lb bag Mush Compost
1 30lb bag Worm Cast
1 large bag Perlite
1 small bag play ground Sand
1 3lb bag greensand
1 small bag Mex Guano/Alfalfa meal
1 small bag Rock phosphate/Indo Guano
1 15lb bag Kelp meal
1 small bag dolomitic lime
I would be afraid of it glowing at night....:rolleyes:

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is wonderful stuff. Sounds like you will feel more reward if you bust your ass instead of use what is available.
Unless you can identify plant issues, and know the how's and the why's of adjusting your soil recipe, I'd go with a commercially available potting soil properly buffered.
Keep it simple, as throwing every friggin thing you can think of at the soil isn't a recipe for success. It's a recipe for abject failure.
Alright, I'll say what I use and probably get laughed at but here goes. Buy the cheapest organic topsoil you can find at Home Depot for a few bucks a big bag....throw in a couple shovels of peat moss and maybe a half shovel of Kellog's amend. You end up with an airy, crumbly good draining soil for outside pots and you can feed your plants with various nutes without worrying about burning them up with all the expensive nutes that are in hot soil.
Don't make your soil too hot nor buy the soil that already has nutrients in it and NEVER buy the moisture retaining potting soil, you'll end up with sludge.
Not too sure that recipe would work indoors, as the ph buffering would likely be insufficient, but keeping it simple always has a nice ring to it. :thumbsup:
If it works for you, there is absolutely nothing to laugh at. Never be afraid to show a softer-easier way. (but be damned sure it really works before admitting it, lol) :thumbsup:
