Firecrackers - Side Effects?

are there any drawbacks of consuming the marijuana leaves since it is very hard to take them out after cooking it? like when you make weed brownies you don't consume the leaves themselves because you strained it out of the butter, but when making firecrackers you eat them also, so what I'm asking is what are the side effects of consuming the leaves, also this is healthier than smoking a joint, correct?
