Salvaging Overfed Plants...What Can I Do With Them?

My first few grows I thought were looking successful but the end product has always been nasty tasting, trust me on this one. Through recommendations from some on this site its aparent that I've been overfeeding them (I've changed my ways and hopefully the next crop will be better). Unfortunately, the buds are nutrient-rich, hence the nasty taste, however, the buzz is there. I feel like pitching them, but it seems like such a waste. Which leads me to this question...

Is there something I can make that will separate out the good stuff, and leave the nutrients behind, in order to salvage the nasty buds? Or is this case a lost cause in that respect?

unfortunately, it is a lost cause. next time you approach the harvest even you overfed the plant, it is imperative to do flushing prior to one or 2 weeks before harvest.

Is it possible to tell us what you fed your plants and how often just so we don't make the same mistake ?

I wonder if it would still be possible to use it for butter or oil or something like that that removes only the THC and leaves the nasty stuff behind?

OMFG nobody at all suggested water curing???? put your bud in a container like a tupperware and put ice and water in it after you put your bud at the bottom of it, then move it from fridge to freezer everytime it's about 10% ice put it in the freezer and when its finished freezing thaw it out good luck try and do this for like a week or so it makes a big difference IMO

This. Water curing will remove a huge majority of nutrients and chlorophyll, and a minimum of THC.

Alternatively, grind that stuff up coarsely and make some BHO out of it.

As far as flushing, I did this process, and judging from the end product I can only assume that either there were still alot of nutrients locked up inside the plant or the weekly overfeeding caused the plant to naturally taste bad.

Regarding the feeding program, I doubt the products are bad, It's just that I used a feeding program that apparently are for plants that grow to their full potential, whereas I can only let them mine get to less than half a naturally grown plant's size. I've never heard of water curing, thanks for the tip, I'll have to read up more about it. Also, I'm not sure what BHO stands for.

BHO = butane honey oil. You use butane as a solvent to extract THC.

Wow, that water curing really worked...and I mean WOW!

I soaked for a week and had enough distilled water to change out twice a day. The first 3 days the water turned a nasty brown steeped-tea color and by the 7th day the water remained rather clear. I used my dehydrator to dry them because they were too saturated to let air dry. They dried to a very dark-brown color that reminds me of the Thai we use to get before the Reagan years. It reduced the flower size by ~1/3 and completely eliminated the hay smell, there is almost no aroma at all and whats there isn't bad at all. And it is very smooooth. Don't get me wrong, it is nothing to write home about, but it drastically improved what I had.

I'll most likely make something out of it as recommended. But I give two thumbs up to this process as it did exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for the tip!!!
