Ongoing Flushing issues

Hi everyone!

First off, I've learned lots by being on here :) I have run into a few problems though and I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on it for me.

We've had a few crops come out, and the biggest feedback i've gotten from people that have tried it is it tastes "dirty" Like it's not being flushed enough.

Most recently we grew up a BC Sweet Tooth, she was origonally a mother that got kicked by accident. We got six ounces off that one plant! She was fe with Okanagan Blend nutes, and flushed for nine days. We used a small amount of Black Pearl (Humic Acid) in the first two days of flushing.

Now the buds that came off the top of the plant are yummy, sweet, nice to smoke, really nice. However the stuff that came off the lower branches are somewhat harsh and burn dirty.

Our PH out of our water barrel is 7.0. We use tap water that's put in a barrel and aerated for several days before we use it.

We flush with LOTS of water, and after the first couple days of flushing the water does come out pretty clean.

I have my suspicions that it's the black pearl... Last time I was picking up nutes I looked at the stuff, and it's supposed to be a soil additive at the beginning of the grow, I didn't see anything about adding it throughout or during flushing.

I do have some other issues going on but those are a little more involved and are going to require more info I think, and I gotta get down there and take some pictures. But hopefully someone can chime in on the flushing issue :)

I only have a THEORY.

Not familiar with the nutrition program and too lazy to look it up right now. BUT the fact the top stuff tastes and smells good and the (older) lower growth is harsh says to me that the Nitrogen is being held in those lower buds.

I know for a fact that since I quit using any additional N other than potting mix (OF), the harshness has gone away. I don't flush either. I give few nutes and feel there is no reason to keep bolstering and overloading the grow medium. The poor plant can only absorb so much.
