Hopefully of interest

This is more for information than for finding a reason.

I have 8 different species. Some store bought beans, some from crosses. Sativa to indica with everything in between. All the plants get treated the same with ferts, watering, lighting, air, no predjudices on my part.

Well I have one species, (Strawberry Cough) that about 3 weeks into flower starts to canoe the upper sun leaves only. Not able to find a cause or cure. Does not seem to effect the end product at all.

Now, I would assume if it was the only species you had, you would be on here doing everything you could to find a cure. My whole point in this post is to say:
"Maybe a cure isn't needed."

We worry so much about this symptom and that symptom. Too much in fact. We should look at issues over a week or longer time frame. Look back a week if something is happening. What was the weather like, humidity, watering, ferts, repotting, got too dry, and any other assortment of the ills we come up with. Rarely (sure it does, but rarely) does a plant get sick overnight. If it does, you can probably look back at the last 24 hours for a reason.

And, then, there are times that shoot no matter what you do, this is just what the plant does. If you only have one species, you might not get to the point that you realize what is good for the whole garden has a weird effect on just one species and actually you are not doing anything wrong.

Going back to my Strawberry Cough, since it has no effect on the end result I don't worry about the canoeing, expect it in fact. If it does not occur, I might get concerned now, as that is what is usual for that species.

So many species are out there nowadays that no one really could be familiar with them all. You need to learn your garden and the species different/specific habits. Over and over and over again, the problems needing assistance relate to "Killing with Kindness."

I find that just repotting with good mixes on a regular basis, increasing pot size as you go, has the most beneficial effect on cannabis. One can even get awesome flower tops with just OF, water, good/proper lighting, and keeping the PH correct...through the entire life of the plant. You just have to add something? Molasses, unsulphered, and not too much of it either. Even on that regime the Strawberry Cough canoes....it must be deep in the DNA of this species.

I've noticed that some strains seem especially prone to the canoeing effect you describe. It seems to me to be a heat and/or light issue where the only leaves effected are always the leaves closest to the lights. As you've said, if it's just a few leaves, then I often will just let the plant be instead of moving the lights further away. Even when the leaves are canoing, the buds are still fattening up so I figure things are okay. Canoed leaves do tend to get beat up over time though, at a faster rate then other leaves. I'd still rather have a few more stressed leaves at the top, but get more light to the rest of the plant, so I keep the lights as close as possible. When I was growing White Rhino, I had quite a few issues with the leaves reacting to heat, nutrients, and/or too much light. When I grew something with Afghan genetics, I could do almost anything to it as far as nutrients and lights and it pretty much took everything in stride.

very good example WashougalWonder. basically the same thing i'v been teaching new growers for 30 years......provide the plants basic needs and they will grow .....keep it simple......keep notes......DON'T GROW MONOCROPS .....and last but not least ....don't worry about every weird leaf or strange spot on ur plant .....nothing is perfect .

i cant believe it i was about to post a thread about this very thing.ive been reading on here almost everyday and until i have been really doing more search and studying on my own instead of just taking what people say as fact i come to realize you have to keep it simple.do what you can to make a good home for the plants but nothing can be perfect.we cant have a perfect garden cause we aint perfect.all we can do is our best.keep doing what the plant is responding to.think about when we start to have the most problems when growing?for me it use to be flowering.and for years i could not get it right for nothing.i always had a problem something.you can take just about any local eazy to get fertilizer and grow with it.so why was flowering so hard?it was because i was following tradition and it says to take the N out.we go out spend all this money on pest control,co2,ph pens,the perfect light,ac,odor control,vents,the perfect everything.but here we are taking N out and start the slow process of killing our plants.then start the doctoring like crazy trying to keep the plant alive when all the plant wants is a little N.i believe that if we just take our time and slowdown a minute we can get much better plants. why should anyone have to flush?why should anyone have to build a science lab in order to grow a weed?a weed is suppose to be able to live thru anything right?so isnt it in thier nature to fight and stuggle to live?isnt it the hours of night and day that make a weed flower or the fertilizer?why do weeds have deficencies?the fact that we can even grow a plant inside is stress to a plant so why do people say stress cause hermies?what would happen if you only gave a weed water would it die?the plant is in a prison with a dim light compared to the sun and yet some people can still have some wonderful gardens but if you ask them they will say "it would have been better if",or"i need to add this then".learn how to grow on a small scale,with one strain,best to work with clones and learn the plants give them what they need when they need it only.yes the plant will fight back its the nature of weeds its adapting to your enviroment.i belive we are growing or have been growing weeker plants by our always messing with something.its like youre on a job and you have been doing this for a long time and the boss comes and say no do it this way.well this way takes time for you to get use to cause you want to do it youre way. same with plants .i took a mother plant and grew it for eight months,then started cloning and flowered the mom.got the best clone and made it a mother after 10 months and then took clones.what my goal is is to get the plant use to me and the way i do things and thats keep it simple.

The royal queen auto dwarfs,as well as the royal auto's. There leaves do the same. with about 2-3 weeks to go. After freaking out for no reason.I have come to learn That is just how they are and there are no effects yeild or quality. Playin around has created a formula to yeild an average close to a ounce per plant. in 62 days....

i think that alot of our problems are that the plants have ran out of something that it needs to stay healthy.we check a persons pulse to see if they are dead,and a plants leaves tell us it is dieing.and what is the one thing we all leave out during flowering?oh but it only has two weeks left,but how long have you been starving it ,and stressing it?do you think we can do better?

i say beat the hell out our mother plants,let them show use how they fight back.getting her use to our conditions.then cloning clones thats already use to us like training them for the conditions.but you have to stick with the same genetics.thats why i say keep getting clones, turn one into mother,beat the hell out of it(stress it),get the plant growing the way you want it to grow,clone it,flower the mother.if you do this with your favorite strain our grows are gonna get better.we will build stronger plants with stronger foundations.its just a weed...lol
