"There is great excitement throughout the state of California over Prop 19 and a very large number of under age 45 voters are expected to turn out for the November election. Current polls are showing that the majority of voters are planning on voting for the legalization of Cannabis for recreational use.
'Proposition 19, which would make California the first state in the nation to legalize the growth, sale and recreational use of pot, leads 47-42 percent in a SurveyUSA poll and 47-38 in a Public Policy Polling poll. Both polls had a high number of undecided voters: 11 percent in the SurveyUSA poll and 14 percent in the PPP poll.' (Baptist Press)
There are a great number of people who advocate marijuana and the legalization however they oppose the proposition. There are many reasons for some people to be against but for the majority of California, it looks like a great idea to pass it.
'If Prop 19 passes, individuals would be able to possess up to one ounce of marijuana and grow their own pot in a lot no bigger than 5-by-5 feet. Local governments would be allowed to regulate and tax it, and stores would be able to sell it. Prop 19 opponents warn its passage would lead to more marijuana users -- especially among teens -- along with more crime and more drugged drivers.'(Baptist Press)

The latest poll I could find (Oct. 1) has Prop 19 approval at 52%. I think we'll see a higher % than that come election time, though. College students will be voting in higher numbers than usual just because of this prop. The yes campaign is very busy on campuses, getting young people registered.
It would be nice to have a % around 66%. A 2-1 ratio would send a very big message to the world: We want it legal and leave us the f*** alone. Politicians would have to approve of legalization, rather than pretend they're against it "for the children."

I think I trust intrade numbers better than any poll. its trading at $65 right now after peaking to $77. these, of course, are not the same as percentage support that polls show but if the prop passes the stock sells for $100, if it fails the stock value drops to zero, so its bit more of an accelerated look at trends. but I like what I'm seeing so far. :jointsmile:

As usual, the devil is in the details, and the Baptist Press got the details wrong. Their critical error is in stating that "Local governments would be allowed to regulate and tax it..."
No. Local governments would be allowed to regulate and tax the commercial production and sale of marijuana. Private citizens would be allowed to possess, cultivate and use tax-free marijuana everywhere in the State, irrespective of local government regulation and taxation of commercial cannabis operations.
Big difference. HUGE. :thumbsup:
