Medical MJ "Enabling Law Enforcement"
Given the failure of the drug war and awareness of people that they should be able to control their own lives, maybe this New Mexico State Medical Marijuana Program is designed to do bad things. Look at the "rules" (old and new improved) and you may notice that this State medical marijuana program is designed to:
ensure "proper enforcement of any criminal laws for behavior that has been deemed illicit by the state?"
Since growing, smoking, and otherwise using marijuana is generally defined in the rules as "behavior that has been deemed illicit (and illegal) by the state" (and, of course, the federal government), we in New Mexico now have a medical marijuana program dedicated to "ensuring proper enforcement" and presumably prosecution of non-medical marijuana users and growers. This "ensuring proper enforcement" of the laws against marijuana is done at the same time and as part of the same State Program that is producing elaborate rules and restrictions but not much of the marijuana supply that it is supposed to produce.
The fact that there is entirely inadequate production of "legal" medical marijuana, is forcing registered patients in the program to do just what the program is expressly dedicated to preventing, i.e., buying and using marijuana that "has been deemed illicit by the state." State control of marijuana, in a mostly secret program, enabling law enforcement?
That doesn't sound like a very good thing to me.

" The DOH should provide us with enough medicine to take care of the patients in the MCP and leave Law enforcement to the Police and other Departments. They are health care professionals not cops"
I will also say it on Friday at the meeting.

It's an interesting theory, but I think It's giving law enforcement way too much credit for concocting such an elaborate scheme. It's much more likely that this is exactly what it appears to be; A well meaning program with a terribly flawed system of distribution to the patients. I know that the GOV has requested Dr Vigil et al to approve as many apps as possible before the Nov. elections. The upcoming meeting in SF will be an opportunity to make your voice heard.
Those of you with "skills"...Reach out to those who need help the most. Wether their problems are physical emotional or financial. Use some of your expertise to lend a hand to those less fortunate. Share your knowlege. Teach somebody to grow. Help them dig holes. Do whatever you can to help provide medicine to your fellow patients because unless they get off the dime and take positive action, we'll be in this situation for a long time.
Also would you really want the state providing your medicine?

to get in touch with other patients because of the confidentiality requirements. Thats why face to face interactions between patients is so important. Events like the upcoming conference in SF offer us an opportunity to meet some of the people behind the avitars. There are hundreds (perhaps thousands ) of patients who don't even know that this forum (or any forum) for disiminating information exists. MMH users are an extremely insular community and fit the description of "don't ask don't tell" perfectly. Besides your friends and immediate family, how many people know that you're a MMH patient? You might share with an aquaintence, co-worker or even a strainger that you are taking blood pressure, cardiac or arthritis medicine, but wouldn't dare mention that you're a MMH patient.
It's this attitude that keeps us in the shadows. You can't help MMH achieve the level of acceptance that other mainstream medications have achieved without sharing your experiences. Sharing with "regular people" is extremely important. Politicians and law enforcement aren't going to do their duty of informing the public responsibly, so wer'e going to have to do it. The sooner the public realize that MMH patients aren't degenerate dopers and drug fiends, The sooner MMH can take it's place as a safe, effective medication in the court of public opinion.. ...BB

GREAT POST!
I challenge anyone who reads this post, to go out and tell one person outside their regular circle of friends and loved ones.
Just one, that's all. Tell them what a difference the medical cannabis program has made in your life.
I'm on my way to make a difference right now. How about you?
Anybody?
