To top or not to top...

Hi everyone. I could really use some help at this stage if you have a minute. If I need to move this to another area, please let me know.

First pic is Kala (Killa Kush), wide-view. I've decided she will definitely be a mom, and my goal is to get as many clones as possible while doing an LST experiment. "A" and "B" are the oldest shoots on the plant, from the first node that produced shoots.

You can see she's LSTd to the edge of the pot and is ready for me to tie the top over to the side to run around the pot. Below is my crude attempt to show the L.S.T path. So far I've taken two clones where you see the solid red lines. At some point, I assume the plant will hit its genetic limit of budsites and stop growing at the "top" or the plant will come all the way around the pot and be "topped". That would make it seven feet "tall" in terms of total central stem length, which I don't expect to get anywhere near with a plant that is obviously indica-dominant. So I'm guessing she'll stop somewhere before she makes the round. Does this sound correct?

Next, I'm wondering what happens if I top the shoots and I'm considering tying them down as an alternative. (Since the younger shoots are shorter, I have trouble keep the lights close, but that's good probably because nothing's stretching and I actually burnt the tallest shoots when my box fan fell out of place.)

So here's the really important question. What happens at the lower nodes when I "top" the tallest shoots. I'm wanting to know what happens that is DIFFERENT than if I just let it go and tie it down. This is the one marked "A" again. I would expect to cut where the red line is drawn, trim off the fans where you see the blue lines for more root zones and then root that cutting with Clonex in a rapid rooter (I use Root Riot).

When I make this cut, do I get more shoots from the areas marked 1 and 2? What about lower, at 3/4, 5/6, etc? Where do I get shoots that can become colas and where do I get fan leaves? What if I just tie the top down instead? Do I get more/less/same total shoots? I'm terribly new at this and I'm trying to plan. Thanks for the help!

I'm interested in what replies you get also. With regualr flowering plants I have always just pinched off the matured flowers and the plant makes more flowers. But I DO know that the more pinching you do, the more buds you will have, the smaller and more plentiful the flowers will be. That's the way it is with roses and other plants tho.
