question about outdoor photoperiod
What hour set does the photo period kick in and tell the plant its time to flower ...
just checked the sunrise / sunset times for my area and they tell me that it turns 12/12 on Sept 25 ... with flower times running 6-8 weeks on average, that means the harvest would be ready in November ... that doesnt sound correct ... first frost usualy happens in Oct ...
"on paper" my plants dont stand a chance ... but many people grow weed out side in New Englnd with success ... we are currently at 13/ 11 and I show no signs of flowering yet ... they are feminized seeds

Sad to say, flowering is quite strain dependent.
If you planted them in early spring, they should be showing sex by now.
If not, oh well!;)
My Massachusets buddy saw pubic hair 4 days ago from some seeds bred in Hawaii.
Could be another week or so for you.
I suggest.

question about outdoor photoperiod
The thing is they don't need an exact 12/12 to flower, many will begin flowering at 14

Yep they should be in flower any day now and im sure they will finish. Besides the weather is changing anyway. Summer is moving into Fall as Spring is moving into Summer. But its getting darker earlier now so flowering should happen any day :hippy:

question about outdoor photoperiod
Thanks for your replies ... something is happening, they exploded over the last few days ... They must have grown 6 inches taller since my last visit ... I was like what the ... they are like little green monsters now ...
However, I have another question ...
The electric company trimmed some branches of a tree next to the street on Friday ... well I was just back at the plants tonight and noticed that light from the street light now hits one of the plants ... small beam shines right in the middle ... its not a lot ... the street light is about 100 yards away ... I cant really block the light ... is the entire plant doomed or just the small area that has the light exposure?
question about outdoor photoperiod
Sounds like theyre beginning their stretch. Many plants begin their flowering cycle at substantially shorter dark periods than 12/12 In the Southwest flowering often begins at 14+ hours of light. (I can't back it up scientifically, but I think it has something to do with the intensity of the light.) The change is much more gradual than putting them into a 12/12 . What is your average frost date?
