For pre-employment drug screen (instant test), can you wait around for results?

If you are doing an instant drug test (urine test where the results are sent within 10 minutes to the company), can you wait around for the results, since it is, in fact, your own health info technically?
What if you have heard that this type of test is one in which they place the sample in a scanner, which then tells the worker to discard it or send it to a lab, but doesn't say why, and the results are sent off immediately to the company. Then is there a way to find out without having to wait for the company to contact you (or not contact you while you wonder if you passed)?
