Caregivers Remaining Compliant post 1284/109
It's my understanding that with this new legislation, large scale private, for profit caregivership is now illegal, since caregivers have to limit themselves to 5 patients. Unless a large scale private caregiver pays the licensing fees to become a dispensary, they can't operate moving forward. If they do, they risk prosecution right?
I have a primary caregiver. He seems to be very uninformed of these new rules and regulations. He is most definitely compliant pre 1284, but since he's over 99 plants he's totally fucked after 1284 and 109 if he continues to grow this many plants.
I am concerned that if this guy gets busted for having a large grow, that I will somehow be affected. I am not interested in having my life interrupted like that.
Here is my question. Is there a resource, a news story, a how-to guide or something out there, that I can give to my primary caregiver so he knows how to remain compliant? I asked him recently if he was aware of the 5 patient cap, and he wasn't. He said he'd 'just go around that rule somehow'. That comment seems like he just doesn't have a clue.
I guess the only way we can see large scale grows is if those 5 patients and the caregiver have higher plant count recommendations? Is there a cap on the higher plant reco? 99? Could my caregiver grow for himself and 5 patients, if we assume everyone has the higher plant count? Is there a way to grow 99 plants for the 6 patients in this example?
Isn't that high plant count only a recommendation by the department of health? Isn't that stuff administered by the department of revenue? Why would a recommendation from the department of health be considered an affirmative defense?
I'm sure there are lots of creative things that growers will do to remain compliant with 1284 and 109, and I am curious about those too.
How is everyone staying compliant? I guess I could print out the actual legislation, but that's not really an option since they are so tough to read.
Any ideas?

Releaf is currently my primary caregiver or primary center or whatever the language is.
Moving forward, I would like to stop paying $45-$50 for top quality buds, since I smoke somewhere north of 2-3 ounces every month. That's a lot of money. I don't mind paying it since that's the only place I know of to purchase quality medicine.
Moving forward, I am now in a position where I can start to grow for myself, so I have started messing around. I can't wait to grow a plant that I can smoke. That's going to be an awesome bowl, no matter the quality. I can't do anything small scale. For example, I have a single plant in a 4x4x8 tent with a texas controller. Just because I'm too lazy to top off during the week. That's overkill, but who cares if it works?
If this growing thing works out, I am going to look into caregivership. I have 5 friends who smoke who are not patients, so I could easily have 5 friends sign me up. I would probably pay their fees if they get a high plant count or something.
That would open my options up down the road, so these questions that I am asking now could apply in the future.
But I work as part of a large family business, and I have a public presence there. I would hate to be connected to an illegal grow arrest or whatever. I'm just covering my bases.
Also, this subject affects a large portion of the readership here, in my opinion.
I don't think anything I just posted really matters or is relevant, but I try to be as transparent as possible, something that's generally frowned upon here. No one shares anything. I don't know if the lack of candor comes from apathy, arrogance, shame, paranoia or what. I think our pot culture should embrace growers and stop being so adversarial. I can see 5 years ago growers don't want to share their knowledge. With this industry becoming legit, it's really surprising to me that newcomers aren't welcomed. But I guess I can see how you might feel like I am the wellspring to your d9. Or something.
edit2 I feel like you are looking to catch me in a lie or something, like I am dishonest about my posts here or something. Is that it? Do you think I am lying or otherwise being dishonest here? I went out of my way to explain to someone else (or maybe you) why I didn't work at releaf or something. I don't have anything to hide, do you understand that?
edit3 I guess I lied in my post when I state I've only used him and then said I've used craigslist. Is that important enough to you that you think I lied?

I ran into someone today that said the language on the new clean up bill was posted today, have not seen it though.:thumbsup:
