Second grow - 4 in soil & 1 in bubble bucket â?? lots of pics

Prologue:

My first grow was about 3 years ago, it was a small setup of 2 plants, 1xPPP(pure power plant feminized) and 1xBB (big bud). Back then I used a t5 for the vegetative period and 250W HPS for the flowering period. The plants were under 24h cycle from day 1 for about 4-5 weeks and then another 7-8 weeks in 12/12 cycle. The yield unfortunately was discontenting1. After this experience we moved and the cabinet was stored in my garage for 3 years or so.
Needless to say, the hankering for another, hopefully more satisfying, grow cycle was still buzzing in me all that time, but work and other engagements kept me too busy to commit myself.

Recently:

About a month and half ago I decided that the time has come for another grow project. I smoke on a daily basis and the prices of weed just getting higher and higher in here, itâ??s ridiculous. It is time for my second try 
This time I thought about trying to grow at least 3, 4 plants in soil, and try to build a bubble bucket for a first time experience with hydroponics technics. I had an air pump and air stone in my house and I bought an 11 Liter bucket and a small net pot and Rockwell cube. A visit at the friendly local grow shop yielded with a fresh supply of nutes, using the Bio-Bizz suite for the soil plants and ATAMI a + b solution for the bubble bucket plant. Also bought 2 x 90W CFLs ,2 x 3.5â?� fans some extra Mylar and more fun stuff.
I still have around 10 seeds from 3 years ago that I ordered from Dr. Chronic that was stored inside a book for all this time: Pure Power Plant feminized, Jack Herer and Big Bud. And also a huge bag seed full of local plain seeds. Surprisingly some of the old seeds germinated, the BB and Jack Herer were the lucky ones, and the PPP seeds werenâ??t that fortune and never sprouted. Iâ??ve also germinated a bunch of local mixed bag seeds so I ended up with a total of 5 plants. I planted the 2xBB, 1xJH, and 1xbag seed in soil, and took another sprouted bag seed to plant in the Rockwell cube and place with hydroton in the bubble bucket.

These Days:

All 5 plants were planted about 4-5 weeks ago. All plants were placed in a 18/6 cycle under 90W CFL. Iâ??ve transplanted the soil plants to their current pots about 16 days ago, and expanded my initial setup and bought another cabinet as I was out of available space. For soil Iâ??m using the following nutes:
2ml/1Liter of root juice
2ml/1Liter of bio heaven
2ml/1Liter of bio grow
For the bubble bucket (11 liters) I use:
2ml/1liter of ATAMI A
2ml/1liter of ATAMI B

I was away from home from day 10 until day 17 (the wife watered them while I was gone) and when I came back I was amazed with the grow rate of the hydro plant compare to the soil plants. Itâ??s nice to finally see the huge difference in real life after spending so much time reading and staring at videos and pictures of different hydro methods. As you can see from the pictures attached the bubble bucket plant is HUGE compare to the others. Eventually my final plan is to place at least 2-3 mothers (fingers crossed) in one cabinet and 2 clones in bubble buckets in the other cabinet.

Future Thoughts:

This is the part where you guys can step in and help with your suggestions. As I never cloned before i could use some tips on cloning, and how long should I keep my clones in the vegetative stage before switching to 12/12 under a 250w HPS.
Iâ??m thinking about cloning my current bubble bucket plant and use the clones as mothers in case itâ??s a she. Then to clone another soil plant and place the clone in a 30liter bucket with an air pump and 3500W water pump that will be connected to PVC tube and some foggers the will spray around causing a cloud of yummy nutes for the roots. If anyone uses a similar method I could use some tips on do and donâ??ts.

Thatâ??s it for now, I wrote allot and Iâ??m super stoned now so Iâ??ll finish with some pictures. Note that the pictures were taken from day 14 until today (today should be day 30ish, I lost the exact countâ?¦)

Anyway â?? a quick update:
The bubble bucket plant going Chernobyl size on me, itâ??s getting HUGE.
I know I should expect the plant to double his size during the flowering phase and my growing space is limited so Iâ??m thinking about the following:

Currently I have a total of 5 plants â?? 4 in soil and 1 in bubble bucket. 3 out of the 4 soil plants are from Dr. Chronic seeds and the bubble bucket and 1x soil plant are local bag seed.

Today Iâ??m going to clone the bubble bucket and bag seed soil plant â?? at least 2-3 clones from each plant. Then Iâ??ll put these 2 together in one cabinet and switch to my 250HPS light in a 12/12 light cycle. Iâ??m hoping to identify the sex of these 2 anywhere in the following week or so. If Iâ??m lucky enough and both are females then I will transfer the clones to my veg cabinet together with the other 3 soil plants.

If one of them or both (please god noâ?¦) are males, then I will kill the plants and the clones and start cloning from the other plants and transfer the clones to bubble buckets.

Will update once this is done, hoping that someone will provide some input/tips on what Iâ??m doing hereâ?¦ first time cloning for me , hope all will go well.

some more pics from today - the last picture is a plant that i've played with for the past month now, i let it grow wild in my balcony in a small container and because the 12/12 natural light cycle it was starting to show his sex.. and it was a male.. so I've killed him today...


BTW - that mylar surrounding the bubble bucket is soooo ugly.. will fix that today too..

Wow bro all i can say is the bubble bucket plants growth is amazing! You have inspired me to try a bubble bucket for my next grow!! Looks like your doing a great job keep up the great work!! Also When you say you where dissapointed in your last harvest, may i ask what you yielded. And also what do you think was the reason for your bad experiance?? Such as lighting,nutes,any stress factors?? Anyway im tuned in bro, keep up the good work:rasta:

my last harvest yielded around 12-15 grams from 2 plants. the main reason for the poor yield was the light i used for in the vegetative state.i used only 1xT5 lamp and vegged the plants only for 20-30 days. they didn't got the chance to get tall/big enough before i switched to 12/12.

this time i going to veg my plants for at least 50-60 days.
aiming towards a much bigger yield this time.. :)

It was quiet busy for me last night.

I cloned to of my plants, the bubble bucket and another soil plant (both bag seed). For the time being I using a propagator with a layer of hydroton at the bottom, some water , Rockwell cubes and clonex as a rooting hormone. Iâ??m planning to build a DIY hydro cloner, perhaps in the next few weeks.

I moved both of the plants I cloned to one cabinet and switched to my 250HPS and started the 12/12 cycle. I figured that the plants will show their sex and if I have females then I will use the clones as mothers and move them to the veg cabinet.

I got back from work tonight and I was surprised to see that one plant, the soil one, already showed his sex, and shit - itâ??s a dude, he has balls all over the place.. :(

So I took him out of the cabinet and his is gone nowâ?¦

now I donâ??t know if itâ??s my imagination or not, but I think the hydro plant is a SHE!! I can see what appears like the beginning of small pistelsâ?¦ letâ??s hope.
