Quick noob question

Can i turn any clone into a mother plant? Like if my mother died, but i had clones, am i able to just turn one of the clones into a new mother plant?? And also, when taking clones do they lose it's potency or anything of that matter? i get the feeling if i take a clone and grow it to a mother, then it will be weaker then the orgional mother it came from? Anyhelp is greatly appriciated, thanks.

Yes you can turn any clone into a mother. It is a clone so it is an exact copy of the original. There is no loss of potency. That is a myth.

I also got another question, what causes you'r plant to go hermie? i herdcutting to many leaves off could do this? And im a bit worried cause iv cutt off a good bit cause they worn't gettin light...

Stress cause hermies, that and bad genetics. You can stress you plant by messing with the light schedule or having a light leak in your room. You can stress them in other ways too but this is the most common issue. Trimming fan leaves is not likely to be a factor although you don't want to over do it. There is no reason to trim unless leaves are dying, or if they are blocking light from bud sites and even then there is debate on this issue.

I'm on my 14th generation of cloning from my healthiest plants 2 weeks before moving them to bud cycle as I don't use a mother, and I was wondering if the same rule applies for this type of practice?

Being this far into it, I haven't noticed any change in the end results, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask someone with a lot more experience if there is a possibility for the strains to become inert. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

If you are referring to me, I don't have a lot more experience. That is certain. I may have done more reading. ;)

Everything I have read says that a clone is just that, an exact copy of the mother and that you can keep it going into perpetuity. I have seen the posts out there that claim that this type of cascading cloning leads to less potent yields however, they are debunked by far more scientific sources. Sorry I can't point to them. I like to document when I make statements of fact. I'll see if I can dig it out.

I have read a lot of literature but I've not come across anything "concrete" on this subject. If you can point me in the right direction or have a link to more on this matter, that would be way cool! :thumbsup:

I knew this was going to send me searching anyway. Have a look at this thread There is all kinds of info here on cloning. Seems you can clone a plant as many generations as you like or close enough for our purposes... It is worth reading through a few pages. I'm on page 4...
