Is this nitrogen overdose or what??

Hey guys, new here. I've got problems.

Well I'm growing GDP and mazaar i-shariff in the same system (dumb i know). The plants in the picture are GDP, the leaf cupping has been going on for almost 1.4 weeks now. I was told it could be over nitrogen, so i've been cutting back from adding nitrogen to the rez when i need to add more water and nutrients. As well about 3 days ago i took out about 6 gallons of water and replaced it with new R/0 water and added nutes with less micro and more bloom. they seem to be using about 3 gallons a day and i feed them 2-3 times a day, though i'm afraid i'm still overwatering even at that. Some show it worse then others but they all have it. The new growth seems to exhibit it alot near the middle and bottom of the plantand so does the bigger fan leaves all over.

The mazar's leaves seem to be thin and and not very firm, though they arent wilting. I was thinking this could also be a nitrogen overdose. The mazars are much bigger than the GDP.

What do you guys think, if its not nitrogen what stressing elements could i be concocting here?

The pictures are of three different GDP plants. Yes there is a bit of a pm problem going on that i'm trying to stay on top of. Baking soda helps a bit but not that much with my humidity. Going to get a de-humidifier. If anyone has some good ideas as to what spray is the best to get for PM i would appreciate it as well.

looks like too much N to me but i wouldn't get too worried about it.

Hm, ok. So you're saying that the leaf folding isnt detrimental to bud growth?

I should just keep gradually taking it out like i have been?

I'm going to go off the path here and say that from the pics I don't think it's an overdose of any kind. Usually an overdose will show first in burnt leaf tips and I don't see a single burnt tip in any of the pics.

I had a crop that did this once and it was N deficiency in flower. My pH was all over the place and locking out nutes. It ended up in airy loose buds that were nothing short of schwaggy.

If I'm not mistaken pH is correlated to temperature. Meaning if your res is in the same place (with no heater) and it drops down to the low 60's at night (since air temp hits 50's) the pH will likely fluctuate like crazy. I'm not a hydro grower, but maybe someone else with hydro experience can chime in on this. Just trying to figure out a way that she's not taking up N. N is still needed in flower, just not in as high of doses as veg.

I'm not positive this is your issue, but I really really don't think it's N overdose. Just wanted to throw another idea out there for you.

I believe that's only for ph pens... something to do with the electrode function. The aquarium ph test kits don't come with a temperature-adjustment chart like the ph pen's calibrating solution does, so I'm assuming the temperature chart isn't necessary, as proper ph in an aquarium is critical.

Looks like a ph issue to me also, but I'm not a hydro guy either.

Keep in mind, with ph out of range, it will lock-out nutrients. But low ph locks-out different nutrients than high ph, so appearances may vary. Res temps and schedules could also be candidates too.

Best to listen to the hydro guys that have shown success though. :thumbsup:

So it appears that the plants are recovering a bit, the mazaar's leaves are becoming less dark, more firm, and the GDP is not showing increasing of folding leaves but a positive return to normalcy, though it still has plenty of folded leaves, just not so much now. Aswell the flowering seems to really be kicking in.

As i have been taking out N, this would seem to support the N overdose hypothesis. I mainly took out N by cutting back on micro from the lucas formula (0-8-16). I did add more bloom to make up for the lack of micro, to keep the ppm the same. Is this an error? If so how would i tell?

I havent been using cal mag. I'm running R/O water and now am in the second week of flowering. Perhaps some of the folding lacklusterness could be attributed to this? I dont know what the effects of not having enough CalMag look like. If i need to add CalMag, how much? I've heard that it lowers pH. Would i need to counteract this with PH UP? Or is there some other means of doing so that i'm not aware of (if i would need to adjust the ph that is).

Also with the powdery mildew. I've got the humidity down to 55 during the day, with a temp at around 68-75 during the day. It seems to not be going wild or getting too much worse, but i got some neem oil spray to treat it. I need to know how should i apply the neem and when, i.e while lights or off or on? And also, would it be wise to invest in a dehumidifier for preventative means against the midlew, given my current air conditions and using the neem as a treatment.


And finally- I'm using a 1000 watt hps currently on 12 plants in an 8x8 space. It seems like the plants could use more light penetration for the lower and outter facing sides of the plants not in direct light. Would it be wise for me to add another light. If so, can i just get something like a 400 watt and put it next to the 1000 watt, or do i need two 1000's?
