So were looking for some imput on a nutrient monitor like the tri meter ones that do ppm, ph, and temp... just wondering what you have what you like and dont like about it... any info would be great :D

I'm thinking buy CHEAP because the Ph probes don't last,or get a brand that has replaceable probes, make sure they are available.
I have a Hanna controller, a Millwalkii combo tri meter (spendy) its on its third probe @ $85 and a prime ppm and a ECO PH2 tester.

I have a tri-meter in my big rez downstairs and it works really well, just make sure it compensates for temp. Mine is made by C.A.P

hey there J Dub. I have the hanna meter you showed and it works fine. They also make a model that has E.C. T.D.S. temp and ph but I found out the hard way they wont work with a digital ballast and hanna gave me the one you pictured. I think I would check out the guardian by blue lab. ask if the probes are submersible. The hanna probes should not be submersed. At least thats what the rep told me. Float them on a piece of styrofoam he says.So if the guardians probes are totally submersible I'd might lean toward that one. Just my opinion.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
My hanna probe has lasted 2 years so far. I calibrate every 4-6 months and it off by .2 on average.Quote:

Why would a combo hanna EC/TDS/TEMP/PH meter not work with a digital ballast. Does the ballast put out interference that disturbs the meters probes or electronics?
Also my hanna meter is waterproof, it says so on the meter. I have dunked it many times although i try not to just in case it leaks. Are you sure the rep said not to dunk the waterproof ones? They do make ones that are not water proof.
check out hannah inst. web site and look up the only continuous monitor with tds,ec,ph,temp all in one its the hi 1909404 model I believe. It will not work with digital ballasts. They will exchange it for another model.That model has temp , ph, tds(in 5 or 7 your choice). No ec. I made the mistake and had to exchange mine. I spoke with Joe at the rhode island location. apparently they also have a location in mich. here where I live but they dont do the exchanges from there. I was back and forth with hanna for a week or two. When I was getting the second meter sent out I called Joe in Rhode island to ask what npt size was on the probes so I could get bulkhead fittings for my res. The 1909404 model has threads on the probes so they can thread into whatever. He instructed me that the new model they were shipping had no threads on the probes. So I asked if its for continuous monitoring do I toss them in the solution? He says NO. Float it in some styrofoam or something similar. I then ask why and he tells me they are water resistant and can be screwed up by submersing them. I just recently went through this. And it sucked.

When I bought my H9914 controller it was near TWO MONTHS from order time till I finally got both probes that worked and were the correct ones for my system,one set made in Madagaskar was junk and the second set came from Italy
The controller is made in Romania, they do have nice knowledgeable tech support at Hanna though.
My main complaint with Hanna is you can't purchase directly from them and are forced to buy from a distributer who knows fuckall nothing about the products he sells.and has nothing in STOCK. (aquatic network LLC)
