Oregon Health Improvement Plan
I went to this and told them my story of why drug policy is part of Public Health and let them know that I-28 had turned in 110,000 signatures. I told them about how much money it will raise for Healthcare programs and outcome research. I got the I-28 projections entered into public comment.
I also participated in a break-out session with policymakers where I pointed out that Oregon spends $1 Billion on marijuana eradication and that we should stop doing that and spend the money on Healthcare instead.
I could see from the response around the room that my testimony had major impact - especially with the new Director of Public Health, Dr. Mel Kohn.
I was the only drug policy reform activist there.
