Question on improving effect.
Hello all,
So last week I harvested my first two plants, per the advise given on this site. Both my plants were at 11 weeks last Sunday.
After cutting and drying they have a VERY good perceptual effect. As in you see and percieve things like your high. However if anything you feel EXTRA energy, maybe a little nervous, possibly paranoid.
In other words,... shoulda let it go longer, for a bit more amber!! :mad:
So, I'd read, or heard (not sure which) that you can intensify hash by freezing it for a while. My guess (as that is all it is) would be, MAYBE freezing increases ambering by breaking down the trichome.
Can anyone confirm or deny this??

What is the strain? You could let it go longer but you have to keep in mind that all strains have different high characteristics than others. Also the high effects each person differently

This was a high sativa (obviously) bag seed. Pretty sure it has a lemon haze, grape ape, and some sort of skunk all in the genetic history. Basically a friends outdoor plants pollinated each other. Then I took seeds from a tiny bud of that "random" cross. The genetics were hermi prone too. I do not plan to grow this/these again either.
I still have the lower half of one plant "on the vine". Waiting for that to get more amber now.
My question is,.. Has anyone experienced an improved high through freezing. I've heard, or read this about hash (could very well be an "olde wives tale"). However, if it works for hash, I don't see why it wouldn't work on buds too.
I'm putting a bud in the freezer now. I have MANY ounces, won't kill me to try for myself.:thumbsup:

Freezing does nothing except make the trichomes solid for making ice hash. In fact, there is some evidence out there that freezing actually damages it. I never freeze any of my meds.
You may have not cured enough, only one week since kill? Takes 2 weeks for the full conversion to thc.

I smoked a little yesterday afternoon. The effect is definitely changing. It's quite a lot stonier then my oven dried last week.
I started jarring the LST on Thursday, and finished all that's cut on Friday. So, only been jarred a couple days. It's been cut about a week now.

Keep an eye out for nanners. Especially if prone already.
Over-ripening is one of the techniques used to force hermaphrodism, but you've chopped the mainstem...which is pretty friggin stressful and might force nanners regardless. When you wait till the trichs turn rusty, (amber) the plant starts to panic at the end of her life cycle, and self-propogates. If you let the plant go that far, you risk over-degredation of the THC. Know what you are doing and why, before doing anything.

Do yourself a favor, and only freeze one. Jumping into a technique you've never tried, likely you will step in some shit along the way.
If there's any moisture left in the buds, the moisture will turn to ice. Ice expands and breaks-down cells. Not just the trichomes, but the whole plant's celular structure. When you unfreeze, chances are fairly good that you might end up with a pile of mush, especially if you've rushed the drying/curing process.

I just checked trichomes on the remaining part of the natural plant. I'm seeing about 10%, most rusty are on the bottom of the leaf too.
As for fast drying, I dried them in half my flower room. I kept the room at an average humidity of 48%. It hit 55% a couple times as well as dropped to around 42% a few times. (inaccurate humidifier)
As my first crop, I'm doing all I remember reading, as close to "by the book" as I can. When it comes to drying and curing. Slow dry (as slow as I could, but still only took 4-5 days). Once stems would snap I jarred it up. I've watched for ANY condensation, however have seen none. The buds felt a little to dry(I thought) when jarred. Now IF I open a jar it's all slightly pliable again. The smell is also changing slightly each day.:thumbsup:
I DID try the freezing last night. I put one single 1/4g bud in for around three hours. It seamed a bit harder when first removed, but came back the same after thawing. Flavor MAY have improved mildly.

ALSO,... I DO have a couple of nanners on the remaining plant half. I actually found a couple before I cut any the first time. However this has been a VERY unstable strain the entire grow. The LST was putting out nanners the entire last four weeks!:mad: I must have been picking 30-50 of them a day! I also had a few seeds where I broke a nanner and pollinated the flower, or flowers around the nanner.
The nanners alone added a good 5 hours to jarring as well. We tried to pick them all out, but I can still see a few in the jars:(.
If anything I can say I got a LOT of experience out of this first grow.:thumbsup:
