FLIR and LEDs VS HPS

I am curious. New member, former grower.

I used to run 3 - 150 watt HPS lights in 2 different cabinets.

Recently I have discovered people on here using the Procyon 100. From what i can see the LED light would be more than sufficient to replace 150 watt HPS lights, but that's not my question.

I realize it's illegal for law enforcement to use FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) on your home, but there is no doubt in my mind it is probably done. Then the agency can try to come up with some angle to get a search warrant. of course this is just my opinion, paranoia and mistrust with law enforcement.

but the questions are as follows:

1. does anyone know what the signature of a 150 watt HPS light is? does it just look like a TV? i realize it's nothing like a 600 or 1000 watt light, but was always something in the back of my mind when i was growing.

2. what is the difference in the signature of an 100 watt LED light vs. HPS? Due to heat from an HPS light, I would assume the LED light is hardly visible to FLIR.


Does anyone have any information regarding this subject? :thumbsup:

ever try grabbing any HPS bulb while its on? the obvious answer is no, its too hot...well you can touch any LED that is on, been on without risk of burning yourself....with only experience of growing w/LED you have make the heat to keep the place warm because the LED's won't heat the place up. :smokin:

cool, i assume this also means you can keep the LED's close to the plants to help prevent stretching, correct?

btw, i have skimmed over your threads. appreciate all the information... need to go back and read them closely... :thumbsup:

you're welcome and you can have them within a few inches and not worry about heat burn! :D

My bro uses 150watt bulbs for his lizards? 150 watts is nothing as far as infared camera's. Is it visible yea since it is HPS bulbs are extremely hot but for 2 or 3 150watt Lights search warrant seems out of the question based on that alone. They may take your garbage or just start reading your meters or something:thumbsup:
