So any suggestions for a Seattle area person who is looking
forward to a little get away in Portland? I hear that the only
state to honor Washington authorization is Montana? (Is that true?)
I'd appreciate any suggestions, friendlyish places to stay?

Well, to answer your question yes you are allowed to use or receive your meds in Montana if you have a valid card. just don't try to bring them back you have to go through a state that is not legal Idaho...:). as far as Portland I can probably help or if you want to Vancouver. I am covered in a few different states Oregon and Washington being among them. hope you have a good time when you come down and good luck. :hippy:
