Newbie - Can't get seedling to grow - 4 weeks in

I tried searching these threads for something that was similar to what I'm experiencing, but everyone here has actual leaves on their plants.


I've been working on a sprout for 4 weeks and it just won't grow.

First I had two tiny but nice fan leaves (1/4" long) and a second set coming in. (This is after the cotyledons fell off)

The first 2 leaves died and now I've only got the 2nd set and they're about an 1/8" long.

It's been like this for 4 weeks.

The germination and sprouting is good, but it hasn't reallty changed other than the first 2 leaves dying.

Here's my setup:

1. (1) AK-48 seed
2. (1) 100W Daylight CFL with reflector, 12 inches from top of seedling.
3. 6-inch pot
4. Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil - initial pH about 6.5 and fert "good"
5. Light 18/6
6. Purified water once or twice per week (initially soaked and drained pot prior to transplanting from sprout cup and then checked pH and fert)
7. temp about 77 degrees and humidity about 30%
8. Good air circulation

What am I missing after 4 weeks of no growth?

This is my first grow, so I'm probably doing something terribly wrong.

Disclaimer... I am an outdoor grower... so the indoor guys will probably find more mistakes.

1)Foxfarm ocean is loaded with goodies, no ferts needed at this stage.
2) put CFL,s closer to plant?
3)overwatering. plant will tell you when it wants a drink. Let soil get dry then water.

So I think you have an overwatered, overfed plant that doesn't get enough light. A trifecta for failure. Game over.

Now a suggestion. This board is loaded with info. Take some time. Look at the sticky threads. Rusty has a tutorial that will almost take you by the hand and lead you into his world. Use it.

If it has been that long it sounds like phytium. Damping off but not dieing.

I'm very good at keeping one this long too. Too much wet and the roots start to rot or in my case become infected with Cyanobacteria whitch leads to root rot. Some day it might get better but I have had them lay on the cutting room floor and look the same for 2 months. Like they were preserved by imbombing fluid.

Don't waste your time start new beans or cuttings. Normally ours would be 12 to 16 inches or more by 4 weeks and ready for flower. Cutting would be 2 feet or more.

Try to let new sprouts be as dry as they can untill they get some size.
