Tried a new dispensary for me in Boulder over the weekend - got about an oz of a variety of top shelf nugs and a few edibles - paid what I am vibing as I learn is around higher end pricing for advertised bud grown at altitude (most around $55+ an 1/8 pricing) but with great quality I felt good - then I noticed last night on receipt that I got charged $50 plus for taxes additionally on checkout for my bud, edibles and papers. My bad, I never pay attention to that stuff until later. Guess I have been used to gram/eighth/quarter/oz prices listed to include taxes. Ended up negating any 10% off member pricing. Got me to thinking on looking for another high end shop in Boulder/Ned/Longmont area and continue search for my meds PCP.

Just trying to balance desire for high end meds that minimize amount of smoke going in my lungs while trying to get back in shape to run a marathon at 55 this year with money and budgeting realities we all face in these tough economic times. I've noticed pretty big difference between $250-300 an oz and $400 plus range. Kinda hate driving I-25 even being legal with bud in car so I tend to look in Boulder/Longmont/Ned area for my meds primary care provider. I still get paranoid - crazy, after all these years...

Or is that naive of me on the consumer side of the counter? Should taxes be charged on top of pricing? Or rolled into advertised price as I've experienced elsewhere?

Taxes are charged on top of pricing for everything else you buy. You purchase a car and sales tax is on top of it, same with that TV or even for that CD.

With that being said there are many dispensaries that will include tax in their price, you just need to ask to be sure.

I think that Grateful Meds might be an answer for you. I do believe they include tax in their prices but its been awhile so I am unsure. Call the local businesses in your area and see if taxes are included, being informed and on top of it is your only solution.

I understand, I too am always looking for the most bang for my buck. There are places that I really like but are out of my price range. With some time and effort I have found a few places that are convient to me and offer what I need. Good luck and happy hunting.

Ha ha...You sound like a real goof

So long as the policy is clear, I don't mind either way. If I had to choose, I'd prefer the conventional "taxes on top" method. Instead of buying preset amounts of medicine and having tax included, I find it more convenient to buy buds like other people buy steaks from the butcher counter: select the best ones in the jar, weigh them on a scale, and calculate the price based on weight. I'm as likely to walk out of a MMC with 3.2g or 5.6g or 9.1g as I am 3.5g or 7g.

Also, the use of both metric (grams) and imperial (ounces) units of measurement is needless and potentially confusing.
