I think he was trying to be sarcastic but who knows what the audience was thinking.

though i tend to consider hannity to be a pompous, self-important prick, it is incredibly disingenuous to try to read so much into the applause of the group for its own effect on the politics of the nation. you know perfectly well that that applause was not for the mcveigh reference, but for the liberal establishment's sad attempt to paint their group with such a broad brush and downplay the importance of their message, attempts just like yours. i find it somewhat laughable when idiots like those found in the daily kos go to such transparent lengths to vilify their enemies. it's a sorry tactic used by both sides and an affront to anyone who really cares about finding the truth behind the rhetoric. this sort of foolishness only lessens the credibility of their own message and shows us all just how limited their arguments can be.

they were actually clapping for being thanked for being so super cool before the McVeigh reference ever came out, but had they not been clapping already I am sure they would begin clapping for the before mentioned reasoning ..
