Need to Find a Doctor

I have a relatively rare, chronic, debilitating form of headache known as Cluster Headaches. My condition is well documented in my medical history over the course of 4 separate doctors and I've had brain MRI's, seen a Neurologist, etc..

I recently lost my insurance and I cannot financially afford to play the "doctor lottery" for a doctor that is open minded enough to recommend MM. I'm not a recreational smoker and I'm not looking for "drugs". I already have drugs. I can, of course, continue to use without the MM card but, because of the nature of the headaches I have to carry it with me. If I ever got caught with it I could face all sorts of unpleasantries that I'd like to avoid.

Regular opiate pain meds and NSAIDS are ineffective. There is one effective prescription medication that works for me (called Maxalt) but it costs ~$20 PER PILL without prescription coverage. Considering I have roughly 1 to 3 headaches per day during major episodes it is obviously not a cost effective long term treatment.

They are not normal migraines at all and are closer in nature to waking seizures. They are painful in a way that I absolutely cannot describe. You have to have had one or witnessed someone having one to understand.

Marijuana has turned out to be an extremely effective abortive (stops the headache before it fully manifests) if I take a few hits the moment the headache begins. I actually don't really like pot - it makes me extremely paranoid if I smoke too much - and it does not exactly enhance mental performance :) All of which I dislike but I dislike the pain MUCH more than the effects of weed.

Anyway - I am not sure if this condition explicitly qualifies under RI statutes but it is a condition that encompasses both chronic pain and seizure-like symptoms - symptoms whose prevention seem to be the primary purpose of legalized Marajuana.

I have held off on considering an MM card as I used to have prescription coverage, used to be able to afford the Maxalt and, more importantly, I really don't want to go through this process and have some doctor look at me like I'm a junkie.

For financial reasons I've lost these reservations but I would like to find an open minded doctor.

Can anyone refer me to a doc who could help?
