So a leperchaun, a priest and a polar bear ........

now that i have your attention for a few moments, im 23 and have been stoned since i was 15. i think i may have seen 20 days of sobriety in this time. ounz or so a month for as long as can be. now that im growing up a little i realize that pot is starting to affect things around me and i recognize that for me to move on in life i need to quit. my question is how.
i work with stoners, live by them, even my old lady tokes now and again. mj is very much a part of my life. seems like i might as well give up eating soup or sitting down again as quit. ive tried cutting back with minimal success and a few other half assed attempts to work with the issue. my biggest problem comes from the lack of a burnout. long day of working and a few tokes my body knows. no burnout and i dont know what to do with the extra energy. coupled with a little anaxity and all i can say is my house gets cleand.
ive gotten back into karate for the dicipline and the fact that i wont smoke if im in the dojo (school) out of respect. so with a portion of the mental battle on the go I want to know what to expect from my body. energy, appertitite, metoblisim. anybody have any tips?

you are quitting because it gives you too much energy??? that is one of the wierdest things i have ever heard but anyways what you can expect is less of an appetite, wont have effect on matabolism and probably wont effect your energy (but then again you might get lazier because you say weed makes you to energized) you may have trouble sleeping (or maybe better sleeping in your case?), diarea, but most importantly it might effect your attitude and you might act like a complete jerk and get mad more easily. These are the things that happen to me but remember these symptoms completely dissapear over time.

If your biggest problem is lack of burnout from mj, why can you not move on in life while continuing to smoke? IMO doesn't sound like much of a problem.

my bad, didnt explaing it thourghly enough. the few times ive gone without weed, waiting overnight to pick kinda thing, and approaching sober. then im energized. quitting because i can fee negitive effects in my thoughs and brain. In my employers words, im quietly brilliant but commen sense eludes me. that and short term memory. what was that mesurement again? F&^#.

I been smokin off and on for over 40 years. Heck we used to smoke an oz in mere days back then.
Same as you, everyone I knew toked, but I never let anyone ridicule my decisions if I felt like quitting for awhile. I am "me" and "me" runs this show! ya know what I'm sayin?:thumbsup:

It is one of those things. If/when you make up your mind to quit you will. I quit smoking cigs because I wanted to! Not because of what someone else said or thought of me. I wont lie and say it was easy but not wanting to smoke made it a lot easier.

One thing that kind of help was saying I could smoke at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. This got me down to 5 cigs a day in one shot and many times I would skip one of pre-set times to smoke.

One thing that's always helped me is let your smoking buddies know what's going on. They don't need to know your reasons, but at least tell them not to pass you the bowl on breaks. If you can go for a week or two of not smoking you're almost there. One way I successfully quit was to buy some super crap weed. Sounds funny, but when you get a really strong craving, light that up and it should make you never want to smoke again! I've heard nicotine patches and gum can help although I've never tried that myself. Main thing is you need to be aware of your triggers and habits so you can beat it.

You realize that there are people in this world who live without marijuana, right? So can you. It's really that easy. It's called will power. Just do it. Get up earlier, eat healthier, keep going to the dojo. It takes about two weeks for the cannabinoid receptors in your brain to cleanse themselves, so the first two weeks are where you'll feel "withdrawal" symptoms if you can even call them that.

Also where are you moving on to in life? Just curious. Sounds like you got something big planned if you're breaking up with Mary Jane.

By the way, there's a whole bunch of old fogies on here that have been toking their entire lives. So smoking for the rest of your life is also an option. Just saying.

I get some weird ass dreams when I stop smoking for a while... especially dreams about weed, smoking it, and then not getting high from it, that's the worst part. Those dreams can last for months...
