Since I believe in going in light and one time I would (depending on the soil you are working with) just take some time release 14-14-14 in with you on the first trip. Also a small bit of lime (if necessary). And a some bone meal. That will take care of the first couple of months. If you are in a dry area some water retaining crystals would help. Remember to put a small sprinklig at the bottom of your hole. A little goes a long way and too much will force the plant out of the hole.
When you come back to check for males you can bring in ferts for the next stage. If possible think time release. I believe Scotts make a time release for the flowering stage.
Good Luck and have a Great Sweat.
