Transitioning from 24hrs light ---> 18/6. Questions

I started my lady-to-be's off on a 24hour light cycle. They have been under the light for almost a week and a half and look beautiful. I now would like to revert to my previous grow use light schedule of 18/6. Is it best to gradually change the time or just go ahead and do it? I've read a handful of times about cutting the lights off for some amount of time to "reset" the plants light schedule. Would this method be helpful or is it even applicable to my situation? Thanks in advance.
