Seedlings with Curling Under Leaves
Hello everyone! I??m somewhat of a newbie that has limited cannabis growing experience. However, I??m a longtime organic propagator, gardener, and cultivator of just about anything that can be eaten. Additionally, I have been a lurker on this (and other) forums for quite some time.
I??m trying to determine if I actually have a problem or not. My seedlings have curled under leaves, but otherwise seem to be OK. No discoloration of leaves or other obvious symptoms. I have searched this and other forums and have garnered a myriad of possible causes, but nothing definitive. See attachment photos.
As of today, they??re 9 days old in starter mix with nothing but RO water at about a ph of 6. No nutes yet. They??re under three 26W (100W Equiv.), 6500K CFLs hovering about 4? off the upper leaves. Temps have ranged between 72 and 81, but mostly around 76. Good air circulation with small fan and fresh air. Humidity fluctuates between 27% and 45%, but usually is closer to mid 30% levels. I??m finding a conflicting number of possible answers ranging from nothing??s wrong to too cold, to too hot, too close to lights, or too much light. I??m trying to catch a problem before it??s too late.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Any nutrients at all in your 'starter mix'? It looks like maybe they're getting some unneeded food from the soil at this point..?

Sorry for the delayed response; I've been out of touch. Nope, no additional nutes in the starter mix. But, I failed to note that I am using those Jiffy pots. I've tried doing some research and can't seem to find any reason why these could be causing the problems. PH perhaps of the mix or pots?
The seedlings are not improving. The downward curl continues and they appear to be stunted. They just don't seem to be thriving as would be expected at this stage. It's about time to start on some nutes, so I'm hoping this will pull them out of their funk. Any other suggestions? I can't think of anything beyond the medium or the Jiffy pots that could be the culprit.

could just be over watering...let them dry out a little:thumbsup:

Initally, I thought that might be the case, so I've backed off and allowed slight drying between waterings. I've tryed bottom watering to see if that helped... nope, it didn't appear to have helped.

if you are starting seedlings you should start at 12hours of light increasing slowly mimicking spring time conditions....you can only do so much if they don't grow... they weren't meant to be!
the more light you start with the more chance you have of getting males!

Well, thanks for the advice. I started out 24/7 on the light. I began with only one 26W, 6500K CFL and built up to three lights over four days.
