Any advice for my first time grow

Can anybody give advice I m brand new and lookin for the best advice Possible for my current situation the only things I have so far are a regular clamp light fixture with normal socket a rubbermaid tub and this 3ft 10in wide X 1ft 8in Deep X 5ft 9in tall wordrobe that I got from wally-mart here's a pick check it out?
I bought for pretty cheap and Im hoping will make a great improvised grow tent Walmart

I'm stuck on a few things now I need to keep in mind that this will be put together and placed Inside my closet. Leaving me only half of real closet space for my clothes.
Im looking for advice on wall reinforcment for inside the wordrobe cuz I think it might be needed but dnt know yet I.e plexiglass, cardboard and so on
next what's better Mylar or whitewalls
good lighting for that space looking at cfl but am open to suggestions need kinda low cost but will try whatever advice is givin lookin at 5 mj girls maybe less maybe more depending on what you guys think
nutriants for a hydo setup
and anything else I might be missing thanks

also Can this LST/BONSAI TECHNIQUE be used in order to produce a high quantity and big budds using this time and lighting schedule
week 1 veg 24/0 hrs,week 2-4 veg 20/4 hrs, week 1 -11 flower/bud 12/12hrs

Best advise is to read and read more. Plus keep it simple for your first time. Cfl's work, but you need as many as possible. Also, your methods will only work if lighting is good and basic growing knowedge is had. If i were you id do a bunch of reading and then grow a few plants out, keeping it simple.:twocents:

Try reading some rubbermaid grows logs:thumbsup:

Definately keep it simple if it is your first grow.
As far as your lighting get 4 cfl's and 3 splitters for your clip light for starters.
Read lots of grow logs and grow room setups and also use the search bar if you want something specific.

Yea I've been reading around threads for a min but I don't know can't seem to decide on certain materials and methods. To many to follow and most contradicting each other but maybe you guys know were I can find something to use as inner walls I'm thinking sum type of plastic or cardboard or even foam poster board then line em with Mylar what you guys think any thing better for the dimensions of my "grow tent" by the way what you guys think of that one ha ha ha seemed like a good idea at first. I don't know we'll see.

Reflectix. Lowe's has it around here. It's like the stuff they make car dashboard sun-shields out of, but in bulk rolls. Light-proof, reflective, cuts with scissors, hangs with staples. Stiff enouth for walls, and you can skip the mylar.

I'd just make a wood frame and attach the Reflectix.

Ok, heres help. Reading for a min just wont do it, gotta read a ton, then you will understand. What method, your new, just plant a seed and let it grow. Materials will be a pot, soil, light, water and a bean. What methods and materials have you read about.

Just grow a plant and dont worry about methods or techniques. You will learn while ya grow and READ.

Agreed. Just plant a bean and if it dies... then you fix what killed it and try again and again. Everyone has different growing conditions u just have to find what works for u. Trial and error and some patience and if you have a problem u can post in plant problems and someone will help u correct the problem. Good luck and happy growing. :smokin:

I dont wanna sound like a dick or anything but if your really a first timer I would get some high quaility potting soil that drains well and stick with that. Hydroponics are very touchy and in alot of cases require alot of maintence and growing experience. Problems come up and need to be addressed very quickly. The chances of overfertlizing and or even killing you plants are alot higher. Soil is much more forgiving and much easier for the begginer grower.If i were you I would get a couple of soil grows under your belt and just bask in the beauty of the cannabis plant and learn as much as you can. Then when you feel that you really know what your doing you can jump into the hydro. You will get better results that way any how.


As for lighting cfls will work great as will T5's. The great thing about them is they dont put off alot of heat so that tends to not be an issue . This also means you can get them pretty damn close to the plants which helps if you dont have alot of space. In my experience though you can't beat the metal halide in veg, hps(and mh is you got one) for flower. I noticed a huge increase in growth and yilld when i moved over the t5's and put in a metal halide when vegging.
They also make 150 ,175, 250 watt metal halide and hps systems. These are great for closets and the bulbs dont produce as much heat as there 400, 600, and 1000 watt counterparts. T

Hey thanks to all. when I said a min I meant like a long time ha ha sorry yea I've been lookin around and taken notes have folder for all of them. Bout the soil I wasn't to sure because of the bugs but it IS more low key hmm now that's sumthing i haven't really looked at. i will read up on sum soil grows.
For the walls suggestion that's a good idea and will look into it thank you.
Might use PVC structure instead if a wood frame tho any other suggestions are greatly appreciated

Make sure you use QUALITY soil and keep the closet completely isolated and clean so you can keep problems to a minimum, or easily fixable ;).

Oh, and ventilation can make or break you at first so study up...
