Transitioning - Soil > Hydroponics

Hey everyone, Ive done a alot of soil grows now and am willing to take on another way of growing. Im not sure where to start, as I know nothing about hydroponics aside from, it needs an airstone, fishtank pump, and a few other things.

I was simply thinking of building my own out of a 5x3 Rubbermaid. Pick up some net pots at my local hydro store. Now if someone could fill me in on to what is exactly supposed to go on?

What is the simplest way of refilling your resivoir, if you custom built your contraption should you have planned for a drain, such as PVC pipe. Would it just be smarter to purchase a Hydro Garden setup online?

Anyway, I definatly want to give hydro a go for my next grow, Ive done a little reading but Im about to do some more, hope you guys can chime in with your 2cents, let me know whats up. Thanks guys -- Take care

As for me I am doing a DWC and change my nutes each week. Ph must be kept around 5.8 at all times. Maintaining Ph is key in hydro. I use a battery operated pump when I want to change out my nutes. Forget drains they tend to leak.

Thanks avon, I will look into a battery operated pump I suppose. Also wich is the most efficient hydro setup for a beginner? Rockwool? ebb&flow? If someone could let me know that'd be great, thanks.

I use rockwool cubes2x2 in basket with Hydroton in 5 gallon buckets with air stone. cut the top drop the bucket in fill with nutes and ph water until roots are soaked in the juice. Keeping ph as close to 5.8 is very very important for proper uptake of nutes. I love House and Garden. Had great success last grow. This grow I think I took out of veg and pinched too early-plant is healthy but small. One thing I noticed with House and Garden nutes is my roots are always very white and healthy looking due to the Root emulsifier that gets added. Never any chance of root rot. When I used GH my roots did not look as healthy though the grows went fine great aroma and color with final product.I just read your grow log 300 seeds send me some!!!
