I don't trust my caregiver

I'm not sure I trust my caregiver. However, I may just be paranoid so I wanted to see what folks had to say.

I have a disorder, too, which sometimes makes my thinking fuzzy. It's the reason I have medical MJ. Its a very physically painful condition and also causes memory lapses and difficulty thinking.

I signed up with my caregiver in August. I agreed to pay him $250 per month to cover his electricity, labor and cost for building the growing room. He said that the plants would be ready in December. There were 8 of them (12 is the limit here).

So, thus far I have received only a half an ounce of the variety he was growing. I asked him for some more and he told me that he had a that plant and spider mites got it, but the thing is that was only 1 plant he mentioned. He did not mention what happened to the rest. He has given me about an ounce of another variety, which was actually started, according to him, a lot later. He gives me a lot of leaves because I make cannabutter out of them :thumbsup: but I do like to have bud to vaporize because it works faster. However, I get very little of this from him. Maybe an ounce and 1/2 total.

He seems like a really nice guy. He let me look at the plants/growing room. He had a lot of them and a really nice growing space. I just cant get over the feeling that something underhanded is going on - I mean, after all those are my plants, right? He also claimed in the beginning that he's been growing since he was a kid.

I know nothing about growing MJ. In fact, this is the first year of my life that I've ever used it. I don't know how much one plant gives off. I don't want to confront him unless I know that I should have more product by now :( He said he won't have any of the sedative kind for three more months. :(

So, I guess my real question is: how much bud does a plant yield? Also, what do you think of the story? I don't really know what etiquette to follow in this stuff,but it seems like I'm paying a lot of money for nothing and someone may be taking advantage of my disorder. If something unfair is going on I would like to find another caregiver.

You should get 1 to 2 ounces per plant. Maybe more if he knows what he's doing. If he had spider mites and didn't take care of them quickly he could loose the whole crop.

did he say you would get the whole crop when it was done or part of it? it sound to me like he is just giving you the 250 a months worth.

You should be getting more, if the guy knows what he's doing. How is the quality of what you are getting? If its high quality - fat, dense buds that taste great, as opposed to wispy, airy buds that taste like hay or grass - its likely he knows how to grow and he is probably selling most of what he grows. If its the latter I'd say the guy is probably just a rookie grower and doesn't know what he's doing. Also, how did you meet this person?

I guess I don't really know the law, perhaps he is several peoples' caregiver and divides it up (if that is possible)? But even still, 8 healthy plants of decent size coupled with the right equipment and knowing what you're doing, should yield quite a bit of cannabis, I'd say at least a pound every harvest, but certainly more than a half oz or an oz a month. The amount of trim you are getting also leads me to believe that he's harvesting way more of the herb than you're getting. You might want to say something to him.

This scenario is unfortunately just another peril presented by the war on some drugs and is the direct result of the lack of regulation on cannabis. There are no guidelines, so its basically like the wild west out there, and these "caregivers" could just be schiesting you and using your illness as a legal loophole to sell a bunch of weed for insane black market profits. Situations like this underline the necessity for some kind of regulation of the industry. Hopefully you can get something figured out in your favor!

I'd say an average grower with eight healthy girls who half knows what he/she is doing in an indoor grow and even in a relatively limited space would average anywhere around a half pound to pound. That would also be dependent upon the strain and of course skill set of the grower and that individual's resources. But of course when you take into consideration the fact that sh!t that can happen to even skilled growers working under limited parameters, actual productivity may be seriously impacted downward.

Really skilled growers, of course, can do much better.

In my opinion, as a collective member and patient you should be able to dependably receive an ounce of high quality meds per month for the 250 per month yer donating to your provider or collective. If not then your provider or collective should be able to adjust your cost downwards towards what they can actually provide.

Ask him if you can be there and help with next harvest. I personally believe your getting taken advantage of. Was there a set amount you'd get or did you just assume you'd get the whole harvest with out actually telling him that.
