Your rights?????

The Supreme Court has now ruled corporations to be supreme and have rights far greater then yours. Yes, you can give your nickles and dimes to elections, but they won't amount to squat after your corporate rulers get to trump them with their unending dollars to subvert anything that will actually benefit you. And you can bet your ass, they will try to take over the cannabis industry as though it was their god given right to because they have more monetary power then you, the real individual that the Constitution aimed to protect. It was never and will never be the intent of the Founders to allow this type of silencing of the true individuals in this country.

Hopefully, Congress will pass legislation that will nip this abomination from the right in the bud. But, don't count on it because its is the same corporations that pay their freight. I'm sure the newly elected Senator agrees with this decision. Fools of Massachusetts you've been fooled again. Fascism ruled the day in our highest court. :twocents:

As much as I abhor this policy of corporations buying elections, I'm in agreement with the judgement. There's nothing in the constitution that prevents a company from spending every penny they have on an election. The issue is FOIA. As long as they have to disclose how much money the paid for a candidate I don't have a problem with that. I wish there was a good clearing house that posted all donations given to a candidate that could be freely diseminated to the public. I want to know who owns my candidates.

So, you agree that corporations have the same rights an humans do? I don't believe that they should. Maybe they need a corporation Bill of Rights since a corporation is an inanimate object, and nobody goes to jail when it commits a crime like the average person does. :twocents:

Have you ever formed a corporation? I have 3 of them and can tell you, in every other aspect of law, your corporation is seen as a person. The reason people in corporations that do wrong don't go to jail is because of the corporate seal. The corporation is legally bound to things, not the people within it. (in most cases).

The ruling is a good thing.

Yes, I had one years ago. Carpentry Construction, and I never in my grandest thoughts thought of it as an individual. And they now do have greater rights then citizens, and corporate officials should go to jail. Screw the gray wavy line allowing criminals to hide behind a corporate seal. They aren't a government and should not be immune from prosecution for any misdeed that steals or knowingly misuses or loses on bad bets stockholder's money. And I don't necessarily seeing this happening with a small business corporations. If it goes broke, very few lose, not a nation or a majority of its working investors. :(

Yeah, that's right allow your government to be bought and paid for by corporate America. Wait, it already is, but this gives them a stronger hold and plenty of propaganda for the ignorant masses to suck up. Educated people do their own thinking, but we all know the education in this country is seriously lacking. :D

Corporations are owned by people so no reason they can't piss away money on wharever they want.
Like I said, I don't like these crooks spending millions on crooked politicians either. But as long as I know who owns them I can vote accordingly.

I basically agree with that, but what really bothers me are the shell corporations set up to funnel money (launder), and then they will turn around and use the same shells to spread bullshit. That said, I wouldn't and couldn't set up a corporation that was going to lose money, and based on my moral compass, I would be totally transparent with anyone else involved in its running.

Employees only need to know they are covered to the best of the corps ability. My construction corporation was economy based, and I laid off employees in the winter when things slowed down. I paid into the unemployment fund so the got it, and would work them a couple of days a week (under the table) to balance out their pay check. I took care of my people. Then Reagan arrived on the national scene, the house building industry took a dive much like today, booze, and a divorce (not corp related) helped finish me off. Given the chance, I'd do it all over again. :D
