New to growing
Alright so I have been browsing around for a bit now and I decided I am going to start growing. Nothing serious at the moment until I can get a good light, but more of like practice until I get my light. I was wondering if you could give me any tips or link me to some good threads. Also I am looking for a semi cheap strain, I don't want to go spending hundreds of dollars on seeds if you could link me to that it would be great too. I am new to this site and new to growing and I think it is a very interesting process and would be a great hobby for me since I have a lot of time on my hands. Anyways this is my little intro I guess. Thanks in advance, I plan to be very active on the forum.

Check out the Grow Log section, & either the Indoor or Outdoor Growing sections depending on which you intend to do. There's a whole bunch of threads in there that start from the beginning and go into good detail. I've found that the best way to know the right way to do something is to get as many opinions as possible and from that the truth becomes apparent. I can't point you to anything in particular but once you read several different methods you should be able to form your own ideas on how you want to do this. Asking questions is great, even if you think they are stupid questions. The only stupid question is the one not asked.
Hope this helps.

Yeah it did help. I plan on growing indoors because where I live it is quite cold and well, there is about a foot of snow outside so that would not be any good.
I just got done reading some of the grow logs and have learned a lot from them. Thanks for the advice

Ok I got some bag seeds germinating now, thinking about making a log for them although I need to build a few things before I can pot them.

Right on, you should do the log, lots of people will check it out and give you advice(whether you ask for it or not lol). Don't get discouraged if you make mistakes, it's a learning process that takes some trial and error.
Oh & you might want to get on that building soon, I've had seeds germinate in as little as 6 hours & above ground in soil in less than a day(usually 2-3 days for me)

Thanks, yeah I know that my first grow will probably be a fail but it is all about learning from your mistakes. Im just looking for my damn key to my garage to start building. And when christmas comes around im going to take the money I get and go down and get some supplys. What nute forumula do you prefer? Right now I only have 20-20-20 but I can go down and get something else tomorrow.

I like Fox Farms, it's 6-4-4 for the Grow Big(vegetative fert). Main thing is whatever you get, make sure the N is higher for the beginning and P is higher for when you switch the lights to 12 hrs on & 12 off, as well as don't start off with as high a dose as your fertilizer recommends-try half dosage every other watering. Once you get to know the plants and their requirements you can go higher but most newbies end up feeding too much and hurting the plants and their yields, I know I did.
If you have a hydroponics or indoor gardening store around you, go browse and maybe ask a few questions like what they recommend or have used. There should be no need to say what you're growing, you can say something like tomatoes, houseplants, or annuals if they do ask though. If there's a hydro store around, they will automatically assume it's weed in my experience but they're cool as long as you don't specifically mention it in their store (my idiot friend got kicked out when he said something about bud in front of another customer).

Yeah I have a very advanced and large indoor and outdoor growing store right down the street from me. I will go and pick that up as soon as I can. I am just sticking with the whole gardening as a hobby (tomatos and shit) excuse for friends and stuff. My parents know what I am doing and know not to tell anyone because they want some bud too XP. They are cool with it and I am going to see if I can run down to that store tomorrow afternoon, hopefully the seed will not germinate by then.
